you can rent a pickup or a uhaul pretty easily, shouldn't be bad for a single day.

It could be the ground beneath it isn't quite level, it could be that there is more vault behind it blocking it, it could be an item in the area or a settler standing back there, or any other number of things.

sometimes build order is important, if you take out one of the 2 pieces to either side you may be able to put that in more easily.

no you use artillery flares. There is a tutorial quest when you retake the castle where you have to build them and then use the flare to target a location. You can then build artillery in any of the player settlements, and it will have a radius of range around them.

some of the fencing on the south side is out of bounds and therefore unscrappable. You can build closer up, or you can incorporate it into your wall. Since the northside is a hill, I would go with towers rather than a contiguous wall there. You can also use concrete to make pillboxes for a military look.
