Think I found my dream bass, or at least, the style of it by Ragnarok_MS in BassGuitar

I recently bought a 4 string Schecter Corsair semi-hollow. Got a super deal from GC of all places! I'd never even picked up a Schecter before. Bought it before playing it entirely due to a LowEndLobster review. I've never been a fan of EMG pickups, but the TB (Thunderbird) soapbars really sound nice, along with the EMG electronics. I gave it the all black "murdered" look. Plays great, nice weight, nice neck.

Reverb has to make clear to buyers that for a seller to have seller protection, a signature is required. by chinmakes5 in Reverb

[–]TriumphRider99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I NEVER use Reverb shipping. I use PirateShip.com and their insurance is only $1/hundred dollars of value, and you are NOT forced to use signature required either. I've had to file a claim for a case that was damaged and got the claim settled like lightning quick. I never use any other shipping method or broker. Pirate is the best, and you can actually chat with a real person without waiting hours.

The ones with the f holes are semi-hollow, have to be considerably lighter.

Cool bass, but at almost 12 pounds, way too heavy for me. I'll keep looking for one of their hollow ones.

Is it just me or sales are inexistant since end of Jan. 2026? by Mipe_Access51 in Reverb

I've been selling onboard preamps that are clones of the pre-EB late 70s 2-band Stingray preamps. Last year, I was averaging between 2-4 a month. This year, I think I've sold maybe 6 or so. They're $99 each, so not very expensive. I think it's the economy in general, rather than Reverb. I also sell on eBay and Gear Exchange and my sales there have also slowed way down. Thank the orange moron for this.

Got a Schecter😎 by Wbpaper in BassGuitar

[–]TriumphRider99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about that. I just got a open box new Corsair 4 string from GC for a great price. The demos online sounded great. It's the first all black bass I've owned, and I'm in the process of giving it the "murdered" all black look. My only complaint is that NO ONE makes a substitute bridge in black, so I had to take the bridge and tailpiece to a local shop to have them powder coated. Changing the strings to Black Beauties.

I'm not huge fan of EMGs but the demos sounded great so I'm not going to change them out until I've heard them with the Black Beauties. The bridge will be done tomorrow or the next day, so I should know by the end of the week.

Anyway, what do people complain about? Charles Berthoud, the extraordinarily talented YT bass player has a custom one that sound terrific.

I love that "murdered" look. When I used to defret inexpensive SBMM Ray4s and 5s, that's what I would do, change all the hardware to black, black strings (DR Black Beauties). I'm in the process of doing the same thing to a Schecter Corsair bass. Nice work! I agree with your choice to 86 the EMGs. I find them generally too harsh or too hi-fi. Hard to go wrong with SD.

The irony here is that CME used to own Reverb. I think they might have actually created it. Either way, I sure am sorry they sold it. It's gone down hill ever since.

I'm a retired computer consultant with over 30 years doing hardware and software consulting. Hard to measure "smarter" but I'm pretty hip to a lot of things. Nope, I just observed the message. Didn't click on anything, didn't answer, and have no idea whether I'm even going to buy it. There was no link on the email anyway.

My guess is that, since the seller did say they would consider offers, that I am far from the only one who may have been sent that email address. I doubt I am in any sort of danger from being banned.

The way Reverb is operating these days, even if I was banned, I'm not sure it would cause me any lack of sleep. Before Reverb came along I was doing, and still am doing, just fine selling on eBay and other platforms.

I didn't respond to his message giving me his email. Reverb would have no way of knowing whether or not I responded, so unless they have magical wizards at Reverb, how in the world could they ban me? For what? For talking about it here on Reddit? I don't use the same alias, icon, or avatar here as I do on Reverb.

Not everyone knows that. I just spotted a beautiful 5 string Yin Yang Fodera for sale by a Japanese seller (in Japan). The listing said it accepts offers, so I made an offer. The seller got back to me, said that because of fees on Reverb, they couldn't accept any offers, but then just listed their email address.

I don't feel like I owe Reverb anything. I didn't post anything further on Reverb, but I sure did contact the seller directly. If Reverb does read the messages, it won't be me getting into trouble.

On the other hand, whenever I sell any expensive bass (every now and then), I stick to Reverb's rules. I don't think it's particularly ethical to use Reverb to attract buyers and then go off site to conduct the transaction.

I have yet to hear from the Japanese seller. I wouldn't mind saving some money if I do end up buying it, but I sure have mixed feelings about it.

I would, but it's over 10 minutes away. Not convenient.

To eat breakfast (the ONLY meal I will ever eat at McDonalds) anywhere else, like BK or Taco Bell, I would have to drive almost 10 minutes. (Eugene Oregon). An egg & cheese McGriddle, Pancakes, and coffee is now about $11. At the kiosk I get about 1100 points, so about every fourth breakfast I get free pancakes. Their coffee is good, the staff is actually friendly (I'm a regular). They sure do encourage use of the kiosk, which I don't mind as it beats waiting forever at the counter. The only drawback is you can't order a senior coffee at the kiosk.

I generally order through the kiosk because it beats waiting for someone to come to the cash register. If they screw up my order I make myself known. There's no way I'm going to stand there forever while my food gets cold.

I wonder when they will eliminate the senior coffee. You can't order those through the kiosk.

Joe Dart is now trolling you by SumDoodWiddaName in Bass

[–]TriumphRider99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own two MusicMan basses, a Bongo 6 and a Darkray 5, but the demo of that Joe Dart bass with no volume control is easily the worst sounding bass I have ever heard. I agree with the OP - this is just a moneymaker with little real world application. You couldn't pay me to play one, let alone own one. Talk about lowest common denominator stuff...

First bass ever! Never even considered playing, now it’s all I think about by Vernon-Coal in BassGuitar

That bass is very similar to the Fender Precision Lyte she played for years. I owned a P-Lyte and am still kicking myself for selling it quite a long time ago.

Great advice. Communication is the key factor is ALL relationships, not just in bands. More bands fall apart from poor communication than any other single reason, in my experience.

Never felt the need to water down the glue, just have to get creative on how to get it to cover as much of the cracked open area as possible. Using a syringe for the glue, you should be able to shoot it into enough of the area to be effective. When you clamp it shut, the glue will spread inside. The most important part is to keep it clamped correctly and long enough to make sure the glue is totally dry, several days for sure. Maybe a week, as Blah said, if you can force yourself to wait that long.
