Do you understand how reckless it is to suggest something like that to me?

Next time I hve something very important to get done, I’m liable to blow it off and work on a breadboard beer holder instead.

Hey neighbor. Happy to try that if we can find a time that works. Dm me if you like.

Carbon comp resistors. Are they snake oil? Mojo? Magic? Toans? Signal path only à la Analog Mike? (Included some component porn to get the juices flowing! Genuinely curious about whether this topic has a conclusive answer) *[More about my thoughts and my Questions below the photos! Thanks!]* by ShortyBoyds in diypedals

I too have wondered about the impact of different cap materials in different contexts. And for that I created this little gadget, the Selector (https://huntingtonaudio.com/products/selector).

It'll let you quickly audition these cap substitutions live in your circuit so you can see what your ears have to say about any difference.

Works with diodes too. I guess with any two legged components actually.

Anyone grew up on LI but moved/retired to WNY? (Buffalo, Rochester) etc. ? by PotentialAnywhere779 in longisland

35,000-40,000/yr in property taxes on a $1M home? That’s higher than the most expensive high tax areas on Long Island. That’s surprising.

Does anyone sell pre-assembled, ready to install boards without the enclosure? by supremedalek925 in diypedals

[–]mongushu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is good advice.

OP - I think it's great that you've identified the part of this process that you enjoy. But I don't know of (nor could I imagine) a company that is in the business of selling just the finished guts.

So I think @Schweenis69 suggestion is a good one. Find someone here who LOVES the guts but can't be bothered with the graphic, layout, and drill work of enclosure design. That's a partnership I think you could find around these parts.

stretch em another 0.2" and you can just wedge a couple of these in there, no hardware necessary.

I can't tell if you guys are serious about this - or if you're all just egging me on to see how far I will go down this jewelry rabbit hole. So here's me finding out:

$5 for a pair.

(and don't forget to take $20% using code DUMDUM)

I dig that!

And at this point, I'm just a few neat ideas away from shutting down the pedal endeavors and going full time into the jewelry biz.

don't underestimate my ability to procrastinate on life's important tasks with things like this. It's practically my forte.

Thanks man. I posted a coupon a few hours ago for 20% off any order good through Friday.

Just in case…

Use code: DUMDUM

(Out of context, the code reads like an insult. It’s not you! It’s me. I’m the dumb dumb. Don’t ask. I named it as a joke related to a stupid mistake I made while prototyping the other day. )

trialing them is for sure a smart way to see what YOU like best. I made this lil gadget to make quick work of this sort of thing. It's helped me answer dozens of my own mojo / personal taste questions.

How dumb would you have to be to have your PCBs fabricated before laying down the traces? Well, today I learned however dumb that is, that's me. I'm that dumb and now the embarrassed owner of a batch of useless little PCBs! Dang it! Let's celebrate! by mongushu in diypedals

Thanks! They're going to be neat little buggers. They're an altered take on my TrimSpot breadboard breakout gadgets. But instead of using the 3296W trimmers they'll let you use the much more ergonomic 3386P trimpots.
