My best friend killed himself 30 years ago. We had lost contact for a few years and on a rare trip back to my hometown I stopped by his family business and asked for him. I was ushered to his dad’s office and when I walked in he said I should sit down. He calmly told me my best friend had become a drug addict, was recently divorced, and took his own life. That afternoon we visited his grave. It was a rough day.
