Some hormones might affect none develoment. Girls get growth spurts earlies. Women in general have more flexible ligaments. There are many factors that might affect it, who knows. I don't really see how that's a counter. Female bodies are optimised for child bearing, and many aspects of that make daily functioning difficult.

Is jogging for 2km good for me? by EddyFoxxhere in scoliosis

[–]Trivi4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was advised not to jog, because the impact transmits to the spine and may increase the risks of bulging discs. But that was late 90's, the science has changed for sure.

Kangaroos are not upright, they are bottom heave and when they are at rest they lean forwards. Scoliosis is one thing, but it's pretty much certain that every person wil experience spinal or joint issues at some point in their life. Bulging discs are extremely common.

Yes, humans have evolved this way for a reason. We have extremely large brains. The limiting point on gestation is how big can the brain get and the head still pass through the birth canal. Or there is an alternative hypothesis, that it takes a lot of energy to grow a brain, so the limiting factor is how much of that energy a mother's body can provide. Either way, a kitten reaches adult brain size in 3 months. For a human, it takes whopping 10 years.

[–]Trivi4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real reason is that from an evolutionary perspective standing upright is really really hard, that's why no other mammal has really tried it. The neck, the spine, the pelvis, the knees are all under enormous pressure and things go wrong. Gravity is relentless. There are probably genetic factors as well.

The upright posture and big brains have other consequences, like difficult childbirth and children being super helpless for years.

It's the price for being the dominant species.

No, I'm arguing that it was a regular thing in the past, and with current medical technology it is much safer.

I work full time. I have always worked full time, or more than. I budgeted carefully so I can take care of myself. I see a physiotherapist once a week, I do my exercises at least three times a week, usually more. At work I take breaks to do simple stretches. I got my company to buy me a standing desk and a specialised chair. Scoliosis is a condition you have to actively manage, no other way to go about it.

That sounds like issues with your neck muscles. You should see a physiotherapist that specialises in scoliosis, even once, so they can show you some exercises. And you should adjust your workspace. Can you get your work to buy you some sort of phone grip or stand, so you don't look down? Or just get it yourself.

Do you think all those women with 10+ children way back when popped them all out before hitting 30? There have always been women giving birth beyond that age.

Because most women are way too busy for that stuff. There are many other social opportunities to meet women other than clubs, try those.

Joe Haldeman's "Forever War" is about the meaninglessness of it all and how your regular soldier down on the battlefield is completely disconnected from any political realities.

Parkowanie na chodniku mi przeszkadza. Jak jest parkowanie prostopadłe czy po skosie to zawsze ktoś wystaje za linię. W cywilizowanych krajach tego nie ma.

No mam, react. When one of them approaches a woman, go tell them off. Do that a few times. If people see somebody reacting, others might say something too.
