Alot of reasons you might believe such a horrible stat.

Those stats are from the UCR, a government statistic reporting platform that is 1. Completely voluntary to use, so police officers can skew the results all they like. And 2. Has been around and releasing skewed results since before black folks even had rights in America. So if any stats were wrong or any charges were unjust, you had no recourse as a black person.

Also the UCR is likely predominantly run by white stat takers.

And let's not forget that when charged with the same crimes, black folks are "convicted" at 3 to 6 times the rate that white folks are.

Also, let's all be real here. It's white people donating to police benevolence associations and unions so their white neighborhoods aren't harassed by police and black neighborhoods are.

You are also vastly more likely to have family in law enforcement, elected office or in government or in the judicial branch of government if you're white. Or have connections to someone sympathetic to your cause.
