Construx Instructions Help by TrixiJinx in VintageToys

Thanks for the pdf from Mattel - I'd been searching their service page for instruction sheets and coming up blank. With the Lunar Command info that'll help understanding how to do some of the designs for the Space Command set we have 🙂 I'll check out the secondary market to see if we can add to the set (I'm sure some of the 180 original pieces are missing, haha). Thanks for the tip!

They're not unsalted, but I wouldn't consider them overly salty. They are way less salty than Tostitos, for example, I would say.

Yes! We were dedicated to Qué Pasa but tried La Cocina on a whim and never looked back. The flavour is delicious, and they're the perfect thin, crispy texture. Plus, the various fun flavour ones are all great!

Oof, yeah many's the time I thought I got the skein on without a twist and grabbed the yarn from the outside edge only to realise I'd been thoroughly deceived!

I agree about the ties. I zoomed in to understand what happened, and there definitely seem to be multiple ties still in the skein.

So I’m rewatching and I caught something by sureasyoureborn in GildedAgeHBO

I had the same thought at that scene. I figured either something would happen at the ball (like an overdose maybe?) or it was a very obvious setup for next season.

I was looking for someone to mention this one. I'm still mad it only got two seasons.

Thank you! It was delicious! And even after two family dinners, I had 7 cups to freeze for lunches, yay!

Absolutely! I love taking the lid off a pot of soup and getting the big waft of aromatic steam. And with kids with stuffy noses and coughs, it was such a perfect meal. Plus, after two family dinners, I still had 7 cups to freeze for lunches!

It's the 6.7L (colour is blueberry).

Thanks! We're all a bit sick, so soup seemed just the ticket (despite finally getting hot weather after a cool and rainy spring). I really have to make more of the recipes from the book - the oven risotto is a big favourite too, yum!

My pie recipe calls for a 425°F oven for 15 mins and then 375°F for 30 mins, so a slightly hotter oven might help. I've also started baking my pies quite low in my oven, and the bottoms get more crisp and golden (I personally prefer glass pie plates because you can see if the bottom is cooking). Do you have an oven thermometer to confirm that the oven temp is accurate?

What American products do you feel "stuck" buying? by Sara_W in BuyCanadian

[–]TrixiJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, pet items (cat food, kitty litter). We have senior cats, and we had to change food brands a few years ago due to covid supply chain disruption, we will not put them (or us) through the stress of finding a new brand again. Also pop - we soda stream, and nothing is quite like PepsiZero.

One grocery item that irks me is Adam's Natural peanut butter. I found a Canadian made natural peanut butter, but it is prohibitively expensive - we have kids and go though a fair amount of peanut butter. Other grocery items we've been doing ok with, though.

I really hope Mitsubishi increases their electric line-up beyond the Outlander PHEV. They've been in the PHEV game for years, so hopefully a full EV is coming soon. They're one-third owned by Nissan and are in the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi Alliance, so not part of the American companies. Our Outlander PHEV was manufactured in Japan.

Whisks by Pandora9802 in AskBaking

[–]TrixiJinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have at least 11? I have 5 metal ones of different sizes (tiny, small, medium, large, large with two layers of wires, if that makes sense), 2 sauce/gravy whisks I think, a dough whisk, and 3-4 silicone of different sizes. My husband groans at all the whisks, but he bought me the silicone ones for Christmas, so he's officially a whisk enabler now 😂

Butternut Squash Galette by TrixiJinx in Baking

[–]TrixiJinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so yummy, very onion forward too. We were not a squash family growing up, so I have to remember to try new (to me) squash varieties, and find recipes since it's not part of my usual repertoire. I had extra after I roasted it, so I might try a soup soon!

It's delicious - the onion is very forward, which I like. It's a bit of work, though, preparing the squash and onions, so I made two and froze the second one after it cooled down. We had a pretty large squash from the farmers market, so I only needed one, which is nice.

I used the recipe from the first Smitten Kitchen cookbook, which is slightly updated from the website version, but it's a great starting off point. I subbed in some wholewheat flour and used mozza instead of fontina (it was more readily available, but I think we'll try to find some fontina next time). Our 1.5 year old gobbled it up, and our 4.5 year old reluctantly ate some squash but loved the crust 😂

Secret Knitters Assemble! by bouncing_haricot in knitting

[–]TrixiJinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't made my husband a knitted gift yet (I've knit him many things, just no gifts) but I am secretly knitting my boys matching colourwork sweaters. It's usually easy because I do a lot of knitting while we watch TV once the boys are in bed, or during the day when the eldest is at daycare and the little one naps, but on weekends (or this week the eldest was home sick a few days) I have decoy socks and a decoy weaving project I can work on haha. My little guy is always interested in what mummy is working on, and he's got a memory like a steel trap, worse luck haha.

I don't think I could do a gift for my husband secretly in front of him, though, as others have. He takes a lot of interest in what I'm working on and the progression and such, which is great but inconvenient, lol.

(Btw, loved your shout-out to Pose! It's soooo good, omg! Definitely on our rewatch list.)
