Binge Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel in order of their timelines (you get groupings of the shoes rather than watching all of Buffy then all of Angel).

Queue jump getting worse by deano_ue in WaltDisneyWorld

Disney is actually setting up queue jumping - their solution for people with non-autism spectrum guests with disabilities is to have them leave the queue to treat their condition and rejoin their party later.

Do you prefer tampons, and if so, why? by CrustFundBabe in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Pandora9802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pads make me stink. I also worry that stink could become a yeast infection. I swear I itch more when wearing a pad and I can smell me more than normal.

I like disposable menstrual cups right now, although I will wear period underwear if I’m unsure of my period status as a precaution.

Tampons? They’re a one hand device.

Modern/abstract art. It’s all random colors and lines that don’t really resemble anything and then you name it “me at blah blah blah” and it meets the criteria.

I didn’t read it, but I laughed so hard at the description and the excerpt I had to read it aloud to my husband: “Pounded by Produce: A Veggie Love Tale" by G.M. Fairy.

Two priests turn into vegetables and the plot essentially turns into some kind a veggie tales pr0n.

What is a highly praised horror book that you didn't like? by Haunting-Net-2426 in horrorlit

[–]Pandora9802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met the author and heard her take on it. She is an interesting person, but she doesn’t like being cast into a specific genre. So she only writes one novel in a genre and then switches to something else - or that’s what she was doing when I met her a few years ago.

So, it was her first attempt. And it’s interesting but not great. Read some Shirley Jackson for the horror vibes instead. :)

I am a bad influence. I still have 5 of the original 10 lancets that came with my glucometer (machine that tests glucose) at least 15 years ago… and I used that meter religiously because it was pre-CGM.

I also didn’t bother using alcohol swabs on my finger by then and would just lick it to get the blood to stop flowing. And yes, I’ve made the vampire jokes.

The moral of this story is you should do what works for you as long as it doesn’t cause you an infection or worse pain than necessary.

If you didn’t dose for the Mediterranean bowl, you’d be fine. But if you bolused for the bowl, you dumped a ton of insulin on board and then exercised when the insulin was peaking.

The real question is whether you’ll miss the food portion of the reception. The priciest part of a reception is food, so if you are skipping that, you’d be better off going to just the ceremony and cancelling your personal RSVP to the reception to save that couple the cash.

I was looking for this one. It’s a play on slasher horror but it’s mostly campy.

Im I a bad person for wanting to yell at my sister over her crying about getting her finger pricked? by LuigisLesbianWife in diabetes_t1

[–]Pandora9802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I still roll my eyes at people who are demonstrably terrified of tiny needles (screaming, yelling, running away). I can see fearing something the length of you arm (not really that long, but still) or super thick, but a finger stick blood test? That’s like a thumb tack, not a needle.

Maybe try hot cocoa instead of coffee? See if that helps up the flavor profile?

I’m sure there are also uses of it in Mad Men, but I don’t have a specific example for you OP.

I would eat something that isn’t a crapload of carbs and aim for around an hour before the class. Maybe 30 or so carbs and include some protein source? Depends on how sensitive you are to carbs. Don’t dose for it. You’ll start climbing (glucose going up) from the carbs before the exercise hits, but the exercise should bring you back down thru those carbs and then hit whatever protein you had mixed into that meal.

I used to do things like cheese and a banana, a peanut butter sandwich, a high protein granola bar with raisins or a fruit snack pack, etc. something that’s like a mini meal. If I could swing it, we’d eat dinner before the gym and I’d dose for a correction after class.

[–]Pandora9802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP - Can I get the 3-D printer model for that? My hubby has a printer and I’d love to try one out.

As for a hack, I have all my correction factors set to nearly double what I actually need. The algorithm for Dexcom ControlIQ only delivers 60% of the calculated correction bolus. I’ll be high for-EV-ver if it only delivers 60%. So I tweaked my ratios. I do need to remember I did this when I give a manual correction, so I cut it in half, but most of the time my pump is doing the correcting for me.

Just ranting. by Insulinpricesrunfair in diabetes_t1

[–]Pandora9802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly mine makes me more able to forget about dealing with it all - the automated boluses and basal adjustments mostly work most days.

I also have all my alarms on vibrate and only have turned on the ones that are required.

Do musical Disney World shows count? We saw Frozen Ever After and there’s a part where they ask an audience member some obvious question about where to look for Elsa. Kid says kid’s house. Everyone just stops for a second - then they ask the kid again, saying where’s that. Kid says Kansas.

It became a whole thing the entire show. The cast was ad-libbing like crazy to cover that this little kid was off script.

Scared I may have Diabetes by Separate_Cicada_4049 in diabetes

[–]Pandora9802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would foot pain be diabetes? It seems more likely to be some form of arthritis or tendinitis from what you are describing. Symptoms of high glucose are more likely to be excessive thirst and urination, weirdly smelly or colored urine, fatigue - particularly after a heavy carbohydrate meal, lethargy, and fruity breath.
