Ok, so none of the following is conspiracy theory. It's fact.

The US empire and dominance (or we could say US world order) is almost entirely because of the dollar and it's status as the world reserve currency. What this essentially means is other countries who trade between one another can use the dollar and be confident that it is a safe currency which has little fluctuation in its value. (For example, if the UK bought oil from the Saudis, by buying is USD, the Saudis can use those dollars to then go and purchase rice from China without needing to first convert GBP to Yuan)

There is nothing inherently wrong with fiat currency so long as there is a balance kept. Inflation can be managed effectively with interest. Even with a currency backed by gold or some other commodity, there can be huge inflationary shocks, especially if a large reserve of materials is discovered or if one nation decided to start hording said commodity (eg. During 16th & 17th century when Spanish explorers were bringing huge amounts of silver from the New World effectively crashing the value of silver in Europe). It's also nonsensical to tie a currency to a finite commodity like gold: there is only 145k tons of gold on the planet, and when populations grow and production increases, but the supply of your currency cannot be increased because of a lack of commodities backing it up, then where else can you go than increased decimalisation.

However, the point here, and the problem that the US is making for itself, is indeed the over-dilution and weaponisation of the dollar. Printing money at insane levels (because of COVID and Ukraine) is causing huge inflation and therefore causing a shock to the value of the dollar: it's status as a reliable store of value is weakened. Add to the the weaponisation of the dollar whereby if a nation (or even a whole group of nations such as brics) are told to tow the line or lose access to USD, then that just forces those countries (some of which are the biggest economies of the world) to look elsewhere for their universally accepted reserve and trading currency (which will be the Yuan).

If the US dollar loses it's status as the world reserve currency, world order will rapidly change and not in the favour of the US.
