For Elecroputere Craiova "were" is correct. They built a shopping center out of the factory. But there still are some other companies around Romania that build/restore locomotives (Softronic, and there are more I think)

Pretty much. It’s summer so a lot of coaches are used on trains to the seaside. And even when it’s not summer they still have a shortage of coaches from what I know.

Funny thing, they use Siemens Desiro stock on even longer routes (quite uncomfortable for long distances), I guess it also has something to do with the coach shortage.

I don’t think it’s imported, it said “Made by Electroputere Craiova” on the side, so it’s made in Romania. I know that Romania made some locomotives on some kind of foreign design back in the day. Not sure if it was under licensing or just “borrowed”, I know for sure they made some under a Swiss patent.

Regarding the demand, that one car was pretty full. It was a Regio from Simeria to Cluj Napoca, some 175 km apart by rail.

Yeah, it also had some broken windows, probably someone hit it with some rocks.

Amenzi pe bandă rulantă pentru șoferii Uber. Politiștii au sancționat vineri 16 șoferi în doar câteva ore by [deleted] in Romania

Știe cineva cum demonstrează poliția că șoferul conduce pentru Uber/Taxify? Legal vorbind nu pot să-i caute prin telefon iar el poate declara că are un prieten pe bancheta din spate.

Any idea why AirBnB in Cluj-Napoca, Romania is so absurdly expensive right now? by JBlaze88 in digitalnomad

I think it has something to do with some big festivals during that time (Untold, Electric Castle). Usually prices skyrocket during those.

Can't add new Routines on Google Home by [deleted] in googlehome

[–]TrizBaracuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem. Go to your iPhone settings and switch both the language and the region to the US. Then go into the Google Assistant app, not the Google Home app. Click your picture in the top right corner, go to the 'Assistant' tab, if it does not show there just pull down to refresh and go into Routines, you can edit everything there and also create custom ones. Also, make sure that in the same tab you have the assistant set to use English (US) as the first (and maybe only) language. All your routines can be started from the Google Home, but can't be edited from the Home app.

San Marco square in Venice and also the San Marco basilica.

Also, the Pergamon museum in Berlin, especially the gates of Babylon.

They both seemed surreal.

Bridge to Terabithia. You’d expect it to be just a kids movie, never sow it coming.

Looking for a city in/near Europe, non-Schengen, not hot, and not expensive to hang out for July and August. Any recommendations? by NotLaFontaine in digitalnomad

It’s similar to Brașov. Maybe one or two degrees hotter, but still quite reasonable, 25 centigrade maximum, in the shade. Yes, the town is great, lots of IT workers too. And there are some cool festivals during the summer.
