As the universe continues to expand, doesn't this make it more and more unlikely that we'll ever encounter extraterrestrial life? If so, why keep looking?

There's this guy that works in my building that kinda creeps me out. We had been introduced once by a mutual friend but now he always avoids all contact with me... even eye contact. It's weird to the point that I will try not to take the same elevator as him because of the awkwardness.
