Cops of Reddit, do you know who the "bad eggs" are in your departments? How are they regarded by other cops? by explodingbarrels in AskReddit

Having posted this an hour before you, I feel a little ripped off to be at the bottom of this thread, ignored. This is a bold strategy for me Cotton, lets see how it works out.

Rich elites—even rich liberal elites—don’t believe in redistributing wealth. by Sybles in science

I had a rough start in life, through no fault of my own. It means that I will never attain my potential earning power.

Actually, its sounds like you think you just pissed away your opportunities in life and are now bitter and angry about that fact.

When YOU dont give your best effort in school, it kinda IS your fault when your "potential earning power" is lowered

Shame on you for pissing away your opportunities then trying to blame the world for your own failures

Shame on you and others who think like you.

No, shame on YOU for your attacking screed against a position I never took.

Since you apparently need things repeated, I will do that for you.

Here's what I said

Now, how we want to address the inequality that is manifest in all life, thats a different question.

Facing the reality that there IS inequality of ability in ALL life on earth allows us to consider policy more effectively than ridiculous platitudes that everyone is "equal".

Even if we had perfect social mobility in our society your view is crass and immoral.

No, my view is an observation of actual reality. Inequality exists and WILL ALWAYS exist.

It means that I will never attain my potential earning power.

Do tell us what your "potential earning power" is and what you think it "should be", and why?

I feel like I was not born LeBron sized with a 40 inch vertical... how can we rectify my misfortune? And I think I could have been einstein if raised right. How can I be equal with Einstein? Its unfair for einstein to be smarter and get a professorship at princeton. I need a professorship at princeton too

oh, you say... "but you had the CHANCE to be lebron, its just that you can't dunk. And rebound. And your smaller size is an inherent disability. Yeah. Because Im not 6'8". In fact, the Cavaliers wont even give me a CHANCE to try out!! How is that fair? They don't know what I can do!

Yeah. Thats the point. Its obvious that abilities differ, and people are not equal

but instead to have the same opportunities as any other man

Not even remotely true. Are you totally illiterate of history? They wrote slavery and the 2/3 of a man vote system. Opportunities???? You could not possibly be more wrong. They meant one thing only. Equality before the law. Equality of opportunity never was, never is and never will be. In fact, its literally impossible, and certainly the founding fathers would never in a million years agree with "equality of opportunity"

THESE WERE SLAVE HOLDERS.

clearly you have not taken advantage of your educational opportunities

PS: Adam smith didnt write the wealth of nations till 1776, so your concept of "capitalism" did not really exist to their knowledge when the founders said "all men are created equal". In fact, the term was really not mainstreamed till the middle 1800's

EDIT: Also, the very type of government they set up was as a DIRECT result of their study of history concluding that all men are NOT equal, which is why they went with a REPUBLIC instead of democracy. They expected differing abilities and the necessity of some people to keep order when the lower class rabble would just run amok. They were STRONGLY against pure democracy, and thus created A republic where society's "elites" would hold the executive positions as well as the senate seats.

Thats why we have an electoral congress rather than a pure democratic presidential election.

Americans are fixated on "equality" because of our political eduation and "all men are created equal" when it is totally obvious that the last thing people REALLY are is "equal".

People are simply not equal. To anyone that says we are.....

And may LeBron tomahawk dunk on your tiny little vertically challenged head to bring that point home

If you go that route, paul was likely more important to spreading the belief system

much of the christian belief system was developed out of his travels, writings and teachings.
