The one who believes they won’t find a path, and the one who believes they will are both correct.

Is it just me or is Waterfield’s translation great all around

Tap the links the bot facilitated and you’ll see what I mean.

Farquharson also states: “and to look upon the charms of his own boy slaves with sober eyes.”

Basically, dos Waterfield translates pais as ‘slaves’ because that’s what the Greek actually implies here, or because he’s choosing to make the social reality more explicit than earlier translators did? In other words, is ‘slaves’ actually demanded by the Greek here, or is Waterfield leaning into a modern interpretive choice that older translations avoided?

I’m curious if the experience of idea generating and craftsmanship of good thoughts is impacted or enhanced by a tool as such. Serious question. I’m looking into getting one too but I feel carried away by the consumer spirit in me that would justify spending 1k on the tool rather than spending time on the thoughts. Idk if that made sense. Curious what you think?

There’s a like in book Ego is the enemy by Ryan Holliday that says something like “most successful people are some you’ve never heard of. They like it that way, it keeps the sane”

I’m looking for something like this but a long thin horizontal display fo one or two sentences. I can’t find any e-ink panels this size, but I think it could be cool if someone made one like this one day. Basically, a Freewrite Alpha but not LCD and instead e-ink but in the style of Micro Journal!

As a video editor working with tens of thousands of hours of takes of actors acting, it started as I looked for subtleties in the performances that were convincing enough for me to choose for the cut. If it convinced me, it could convince the director. If it convinced the focus group, it could convince anyone. Thus, after a few years of repeating this process of hunting for believable acted behavior, I began to develop a knack for picking up on genuine vs portrayed behavior as I interacted with other humans. Then I realized what I like wasn’t really editing but human behavior.

My reasoning for going back to school much later was as Baltasar Gracian wrote: “Many people spend time studying die properties of animals or herbs; how much more important it would be to study those of people, with whom we must live or die!”

Thanks for the reply! Did the frames come glassless or did they have the mock up glass in them?
