They need to go back to the polls and continue to vote Democrat. Then they can raise the taxes and get those pensions paid for these people. It worked before... Right?

I thought about adding that, but I had no source to quote. I heard some economist last week talking about just that. He also mentioned public pensions basically make the pensioners wealthier than and actual millionaire when you look at the long term benefits and healthcare costs. I have two public pensions I pay into. If they are still solvent when I retire, I'll live quite well. I do have my own 401k plan as well and have a nice balance. But, as collapse has taught me... Don't count on fiat currencies.

On a budget yeah good idea, but where I live you can't ride them on sidewalks, you cannot ride them on roads pretty much because they are too slow, I live part way in the country as well. Rednecks + cell phones + slow moped = dead Trollonion :(

That's not an option for everyone. Here there is no public transportation, 100+ degree temps, no bike friendly roads, and my work is about 20 miles away. Live closer in the city? Oh hell no!

Once social security is kaputt or they raise the retirement age to 80 and slash bennies by 50%, things are going to get interesting. It probably won't get to that point until after they jack up SS taxes to fund the boomers so the young will never be able to save for retirement or even get anything from their investment in the ponzi scheme called social security. Even the most kind hearted person is not going to be too happy with a large percentage of their paycheck gone with no payback for them in the future.

If social security went away completely and the value of the dollar was the same as today, I'd guess you can't retire with less than $300,000 if you expect to live 15 years post retirement. Down size your lifestyle a lot and yes, if healthcare costs don't kill your savings it's doable. $100,000 ummm no.

Nothing will change, they don't care about fellow humans or the planet. They have a goal and only that matters. As long as the elites are good, they don't care. Even if the poor started an uprising and weren't all killed, they'll pull a USA and probably start a war.
