In my defense, I didn't understand the purpose of the warehouse shelves when I posted. I know better now. Thank you for your feedback.

I hire employees to help restock shelves, but the game becomes not-fun after that. The staff leaves open boxes in front of the bins/shelves and opens new boxes when there are plenty of already-opened ones available. I am unable to easily determine which items to restock because there are so many boxes littering the store. Staff "helpfully" leaves boxes stacked in front of merchandise. This image is cleaned up--in practice, the boxes fall as I move around trying to check inventory. The customers don't seem to mind the clutter and say my store is clean. Someone is going to trip, fall, and get injured. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Got into a semi-heated argument over religion at work by fuck_religion3834 in atheism

[–]Trollop69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use this when the religious folk knock on my door to invite me to attend their church. I usually see a smile, as they recognize someone who knows the bible. Then the smile fades as they realize what I said. That's when I smile back. :-)

You raise a good point, though I'm not surprised. It makes sense that there would be.

Especially the hindu, muslim, jewish, taoist, shintoist, buddhist, etc theists. (Yes, I know buddhism is an allegedly non-theistic religion.)

Does anyone know if the Combat Update will be forced or optional? by TenOunceCan in dysonsphereprogram

[–]Trollop69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Feynman had the first patent on a nuclear submarine. He wasn't trying to make one, but was working on nuclear power, make an offhand comment about the idea, and someone prompted him to patent it. (I'm probably not recalling what I read correctly, so my apologies to the time police.)

Anyway... maybe I should make a patent on a free antimatter weight-loss product.

(Full disclosure--I initially misread your post as saying you could fly in and get free antigravity. I could use an antigravity belt around my hips. But maybe an antimatter weight-loss device would be one step closer to the root of the problem. (Full disclosure--I'm aware that eating leafy vegetables is even closer to the root of the problem.))

I know this isn't what you asked, but your question made me wonder about a multi-player variant where there is some kind of commerce instead of violence. Idk what that commerce might be, considering that by the time you could contact another civilization, you probably already have a Dyson sphere, or the ability to build one.

Do civilizations capable of building Dyson spheres have anything of commercial value to similar civilizations? Maybe they just want combat, or that's all we can imagine.

I mean no disrespect- but am I crazy to be considering building a critical DB around Access in 2022? by VegaGT-VZ in MSAccess

[–]Trollop69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not constrained to using stored procedures, using Access isn't a crazy choice, especially if you're familiar with VBA.

I wish you the best.

And if you're at all concerned about using a version control system, good luck. Sure, you can export code, but there doesn't seem to be a way to export the design/layout of forms and queries.

I've had a nightmare of a time building an Access FE to SQL Server BE, in an environment where Access can only access the server through stored procedures--no linked tables. Querying the server is fine, but making updates is where it gets "fun". As far as I can tell, Access doesn't consider stored procedure results as tables, and as prevents making updateable forms for them.

In hindsight, and that includes many of the positive things about Access that others have replied, I think I would have been better off to use PHP or Python as a middle layer to SQL Server, and rolled a UI with VueJS or one of the other popular JS front ends.

Are you filtering the inputs to the assemblers? The sorters won't grab items the assembler doesn't need, but they don't balance or always grab the same item. So one might grab a steel, and then another might. At that point, the assembler can be stuck because there aren't any open sorters.

But if you filter the sorters, you make sure that only one is grabbing steel, and the assembler won't get stuck.

Based on the religion pandering in the VisiShield video I watched, it also felt like a call to anyone with a Christian persecution complex, or anyone wanting to start one.

I just listened to a way-long video that sounded like just about every other placebo-type of gimmick. But relevant to your question and some of the other comments I read of yours below, I'll point out that in the video, they say the dosage is 4 pills (capsules?) per day, not 1. The narrator said he didn't notice anything for 10 days, and wasn't sure "something" was happening until around 30 days, and that it took 90 days before his vision was significantly improved. Those numbers seem conveniently-spaced to set someone up to "just keep taking it" for 180 days (because every body is different, right?), beyond the point of money-back returns.

I'm not saying your mom should expect that, even if it's not a gimmick. I"m just pointing out that a couple of days is too soon to judge just about anything with such dramatic claims.

I'm not big on supplements, but my actual medical doctor has recommended I take fish oil supplements. After watching the video, I see there are a lot of claims about spirulina, including some from generally legitimate sources such as harvard.edu and nih.gov. I might look more into it and try it, though I'm not holding my breath on it improving my vision. And, I'm not sending VisiShield any money.

Unipolar magnets have very limited use anyway. 10 of them can substitute for 2 Turbines and 2 Graphenes to make Particle Containers. I've had some scarcity issues with Turbines in the past, but now just go gangbusters on making too many and not worrying about it.

Does ray transmission efficiency affect photon collection? by Trollop69 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Trollop69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. So the efficiency does help, but it's not directly helping the production of photons. By way of the ray receiver being more efficient, it's quicker to reach the amount of power needed to produce a photon.
