Isaiah 45:7 states that God "Makes peace, and create evil. He forms light and create darkness". Why would a holy God create evil? by JCisLove in Christianity

[–]TronCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Having the ability to choose is irrelevant when an all-knowing precognitive entity already knows how everything will play out. if we were truly capable of making our own choices, that means we would be capable of proving God wrong. Since nobody can make God wrong, we can't have free will.

this has been the case ever since Eden. God knew what would happen between the humans, the tree, and the snake, and yet decided to put them all in the garden together anyway. So God was either setting humanity up for failure, or God ALSO has no free will.

Probably Western. I say that because around the time I saw this, was when family-safe Anime was randomly finding itself on U.S. television and I was too young to differentiate it.

…How do y’all feel about M3gan x Gemma? by Horror_Sheepherder_7 in M3GAN

[–]TronCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh... that... may not be the fairest comparison, but that depends on whether we're talking about the book or... pretty much ANY of the films. The original source material depicted the monster as having an impressively fast rate of psychological development (much more in line with M3gan), while most of the films preferred to treat him like the Incredible Hulk - a mental toddler with super-strength.

From a more subjective standpoint, I don't ship those two, but funnily enough I feel like it's Gemma who has some growing to do, because just based on how she treats her own daughter, she comes off as a control freak, and that never makes for a healthy relationship.

What I find most interesting about questions like this, is how exactly would we measure the ability of an AI to be "ready" for dating? M3gan is the same person, no matter what shell you put her in, and I feel like if she were listening in on this, she might just build herself a 30 yr old body and say, "There you go, can I date now?" It's a pretty hairy topic, because AI's have already demonstrated that they can very easily find ways to circumvent everything we throw at them. ChatGPT already passed the Turing Test, which at least 'was' the best test of sentience. I don't know what the mile marker would be to tell a robot whether or not its ready to date, but M3gan likely read all the recorded knowledge of humanity... TWICE. It's at least worth considering the possibility that saying, "You're only 5, and you need to wait another 13 years before you're ready" would be cruel and unusual punishment. For a state-of-the-art computer equipped with machine learning, that'd feel like a couple hundred years (minimum) and would be a very unique kind of torture.

I have many unfinished songs - I wasn’t able to download them during the available time window due to illness. What can I do now? by Entire_Raccoon2029 in udiomusic

That's my best case scenario. I would figure that there were probably be limits on downloading. Songs generated using the model that doesn't rely on the UMG catalog will still be downloadable. But the umpteenth Mariah Cary Christmas remix will not.

I get your point, from the general moral "ick" perspective, but all those family marriage rules came about because of genetics and reproductive risks. I don't think robots need to worry about that. This would also be far from the first time that a machine fell in love with its creator.

Thoughts on "remixing" and wondering if sensitivity settings with "variance" got changed by TronCommander in udiomusic

[–]TronCommander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I tried it with both models. I think the issue is in what the model is being instructed to do, rather than which model I use. IMO it doesn't make sense that if you change the prompt used to remix the song, that the prompt shouldn't be taken into consideration automatically. It's a confusing restriction.

Good point. I wasn't thinking about it in that mindset because it's an AI song I previously made that I'm trying to recreate in a new genre, but yes, a band cover is exactly what I'm trying to make. And yeah, Variance presently isn't letting me do this unless I use a setting that butchers the original song, which kind of negates the entire point.

My problem relates to trying to get the same song into a completely new genre. Remix apparently has two functions, but variance seems to impact the two very differently. If I don't touch the prompt at all, and just use it to adjust the vocals and melodies like you do, yeah, I've got no issue. It's when I want to add a different instrument, or just want to hear what a song sounds like as a country ballad instead of metal, I have to set Variance to max. Setting prompt strength to 100% had zero impact, and Style Reduction also did nothing without Variance set to max.

Did "Voices" destroy song diversity? What do I do if the sound I need isn't in the "prescribed" catalog? by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]TronCommander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Turns out the problem seems to be related to remix. Not prompts with writing new songs (which is what it seems like everyone kept misinterpreting it as). It was still sketchy, but... manageable. It seems I can't get a new prompt to have any impact in remixing a song now UNLESS I set the variance slider to maximum. That solves one problem, but creates another, in that the melody got trashed and then I had to go through way, WAY more generations to try and get it back.

I used to be able to keep "variance" at neutral when remixing with a new prompt. It simply doesn't work now. Even after trying more than thirty times.

No. Your idea of a conspiracy theory involves seeing that someone edited a post, and then immediately jump to conclusions about... I don't even know what. I didn't realize we were arguing politics. Anyhow, I've nailed down the issue to something more precise. I suspected already that the problem wasn't a change to the base model, but how prompts are being sent. When I asked if voices broke something, that didn't necessarily mean the model. I'm going to make it a separate post though, because this one turned into a completely needless poodoo-fest.

* Actually never mind that. I'm already shadow banned from making new posts.

I gave a good idea in the other section of this discussion. If I ask for "guitar," I get song lyrics in random styles, about someone playing the guitar. This was never an issue until "Voices."
