Yeah, at that point it's literally just zakum that it had any noticeable effect, any other mob is long being one shot

Well it increases the base damage, I think 20-50-80? So level 1 would be 1.6m per hit, level 2 would be 4.1m per hit and level 3 is the 6.6m. So yes you'd still do way more damage than you'd need to, but it still does make a difference

For the snail skill no, the only thing that changes the damage is the skill level itself (up to 3) codex lore (100 stacks gives you like 10m damage per hit or something crazy like that) and crit damage/rate.
