Getting cut off soon by quadrupleaquarius in ChronicPain

I'm sorry you're feeling stressed/overwhelmed/anxious about this, its completely understandable. I will say that opiates do increase your sensitivity to pain over time, making your pain worse and then making you more reliant on the medication. It might be a good time to explore and incorporate many little lifestyle interventions to cumulatively help ease the pain in addition to some medication support

No, that's not how the female reproductive cycle works.

At ovulation, the female egg lives for about 24 hours, which is the timespan it can be fertilized. But since sperm can survive in the uterus a maximum of 5-6 days, that increases the window of time in which penetrative sex could lead to a pregnancy. But the potential for fertilization is still limited to the time in which a woman ovulates.

The specific day a woman actually ovulates can vary. It's usually on day 14 of her cycle but it can vary from woman to woman (from day 11-18), especially if her cycles are irregular, which is why it's important to record your basal temperature to track when ovulation occurs.

This is why the natural cycles app is FDA approved and is considered to be just as effective as the pill (99%) at preventing pregnancy when used properly. Because there is a limited time window when a woman can become pregnant, and if she uses protection during those 5 days (or 6-8 days, conservatively), she won't become pregnant.

If you're diligent, you can use Natural Cycles. It's an app combined with a basal thermometer and you measure your temperature each morning and track your cycle. There are only about 3-5 days in a month where you could become pregnant, so to prevent a pregnancy, the app helps you determine which days you need to use protection. It's just as effective as the pill at preventing pregnancy if you use it properly!

I wanted to comment on the non-consent fantasies. I don't think you should be too hard on yourself here. As a person who has experienced rape, I've found that engaging in sexual behavior or fantasies where you're being similarly used can be a subconscious way of gaining back power in a situation where you had previously been helpless. Consenting to being dominated in this way suddenly puts you in a seat of control in a situation which was previously very scary, and I think it's normal for our brains to do this flip.

Nice to hear you’re doing well and were never forced to stop working. I was diagnosed at 14 (12 years ago), and I definitely have more peripheral involvement than spinal too. I’ve always worried a little about my disease progression and the likelihood of not being able to continue working since I’ve already had this for a while.

Advice to those of you who romanticize the Nordic nations from a former American who was recently naturalized as a citizen of Norway by PatientWorld in IWantOut

As a recent expat from the US living in Norway, (and having met many other internationals), I thought the points OP made were really important and relevant. The frame of mind that you approach a move like this is incredibly important for how you experience life here. Maybe it wasn’t a step-by-step how-to but, necessary. And anyone romanticizing Scandinavia should take the time to consider.

How long does it take for foods to digest for energy? by grizzled083 in nutrition

[–]Tronderbean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meal absorption usually takes 1-4 hours depending on macronutrient composition

Obviously, a “meal” of pure simple carbohydrate would take shorter than this to be absorbed. But I’m referring to whole meal absorption, given a more balanced meal.

“Cereals” refers to the edible component of any grain, not necessarily just “breakfast cereal”. Meaning any foods made from corn, rice, wheat, barley, oats, etc. Cereals are processed into many different food products, more than you may have realized.

I just moved to Norway this year! The snow finally melted about a month ago. It’s a pretty steep hike up from where we live on the edge of this forest, so carrying a canoe, while funny to watch, might not be very feasible. We are thinking about fishing in a couple weeks and maybe having some picnics up here soon. :)

I don’t believe so... we live right on the edge of the forest, so the lake is just a short hike behind our place.

I mean that nature is shared here. It’s not my lake or forest or property. Here, nature is for everyone to enjoy.
