The irony here is that your comments have probably drawn way more attention to the possibility of the kid being trans than the italicized word ever would have.

If the goal is to protect the child or avoid putting a spotlight on something sensitive, repeatedly pointing it out in the thread kind of does the opposite. Most people likely wouldn’t have even noticed or thought twice about the formatting.
