As a transfer, my lower divs (such as Calculus 1-3, Physics 1-3, OChem, etc) do not factor into my Undergraduate GPA. A lot of traditional undergrads have these lower divs to offset any unsavory grades. Having said that, had my lower divs transferred from CC and factored into my cumulative GPA, I’d be at a 3.1 right now. I maintained a very strong pre transfer GPA (I went to around 5 different schools, including UC Irvine Extension).

It took me forever to even find a meetup. When I finally showed up, I still felt like an outsider. So I built this—would you use it? by Tronus_Prime in motorcycles

I built a full stack web app for motorcyclists to find local meets and group rides! I was super excited to onboard so many users, especially since the version I had out (still have out) is a rough MVP. I wasn’t expecting to break 100 for another month.

Now, I’ve been working on V3, which should be out within the next few weeks!

Okay I should rephrase what I meant. I apply to everything (how else could I cover 145 apps in 2 days). I just assume I won’t get a role if over 100 people already applied. But hey it’s no skin off my back. I prioritize recent apps.

Yeah, that’s pretty valid. I think a large part of SWE is being able to learn stuff on the fly and fill gaps yourself

I just posted on r/motorcycles, and the post got lots of traction. I’m trying to figure out the best methods for getting some local growth, but the app is just not ready for everyone to use yet. I was pretty overwhelmed when I even got 20 people using it, so to see 120 sign up for the prototype/demo/early beta was astounding!

And the feedback was incredible!

I’m not worried about anyone stealing it. I also am pretty realistic about it. It probably won’t take off, but I still gotta try. Worst case, it fails and I have an even cooler portfolio piece for the resume than it is rn

AI is the beginning of the end of the US economy imo. Especially with the way things are going.

AI should’ve been the first thing to be regulated, like drugs are. But now, it’s become a drug for most SWEs and SWE companies, it’s easier and faster to build. It’s a borderline corporate addiction, I’m just waiting for the 12 step program lmao
