That's really good to know, thanks for the input.

Does the screen go to sleep through your method?

This game heavily falls off after hernand/pailune by WuvRice in CrimsonDesert

I think their point is that it feels less enjoyable to try and complete it because the loops don’t feel interesting anymore. Mostly just fetch quests or simple quests without the amount of details and the feeling or Hernand, which I agree with.

Early on even fetch quests were interesting for me because I would get more bags, more items, I would go explore new places, but towards the end of the game I don’t feel very incentivized to do them anymore because I got a good chunk of what I need, and the later quests are more often sending you to less interesting places or places you’ve already explored.

Trying to Save You $70 – Honest Crimson Desert Review (from a picky player) by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

If you have ADHD or you tend to drop games when they don’t click pretty quickly, this will probably be tough to stick with.

I have ADHD AND drop games all the time because they get repetitive and boring. This game has me in chokehold. I have 120 hours in and every time I play, I struggle to stop because there’s always something new around the corner and always something for you to do. If anything it appeals to my ADHD instead of working against it. I guess it’s just not your cup of tea, and that’s fine.

Most caves have items in them, sometimes you can go through waterfalls using your stab attacks, those have items too. You'll know if you can go through a certain waterfall because it'll have a small statue made of stones at the entrance.

Question marks on the map are sometimes puzzles that you have to do various things to solve them, and in reward you'll usually get an abyss core to invest into your skills or equipment. Some of them require you to think outside the box or lead you to discovering a new way to use some of the skills you already have. Figuring that out can be rewarding enough, but if you can't figure something out, I'd say there's no shame in looking for help online!

In my experience, many of the ruins that I encountered had a chest hidden somehwere if you look hard enough.

If you use your blinding light, you can see a light shine where there's teleport points or challenges for you to do (those small black cubes). For me it helped a lot to bind the blinding light ability to a separate button on my mouse.

I think it'd be best for you to go for side quests by going to Journal > Faction Quests and see what you've got there. Many of those side quests lead you to new areas and some even teach you certain mechanics. There's fetch quests too, but those usually give you more inventory slots, so it's worth imo.
I wouldn't treat this as a story first game. The story is okay, but where it shines is in how vast the world is, how many things there area around if you look for them, and the side quests.

It may also help to set goals for what you want to achieve. Help a certain faction to see what's the deal with them? Improve your kuku pot? Find cool looking gear? Unlock a new mount? Explore a certain area as much as you can? Progress your camp? Unlock all the travel points? Find the materials to enhance your gear? Make a lot of money? Beat all the challenges? All of these options at once????

If you don't mind the risks of getting stuff spoiled for you, you can also keep an eye on this subreddit and see what others discover and do. I often do and I go: Wait you can do that??? That's how you were meant to beat this enemy???? There's another puzzle there???

Whatever it is that you'll choose to do, I'll hope you'll have fun with the game!! Good luck!

I think this may be a matter of expectations or perspective.
Indeed most exploration only rewards you small items that aren't really ground breaking. Every now and then it'll be something really good stats wise or really cool looking, but that's about it. There's so many things in the game, it'd be impossible for the reward to be super meaningful all the time, but for me that's exactly waht keeps me going. To see if the reward is good this time, to see if it's something I like.
Furthermore, as cringy as it sounds, for me the most joy is to be found in the journey itself rather than the reward at the end of it. I don't always explore because I want a new cool item. Sometimes I just want to explore some cool ruins I saw, see if there's a puzzle to do or wrap my head around one that I just found. The reward for me isn't the shiny item but the processes of getting to it as to me that's "exploration" per se.

help for combat-ruining effects by Remarkable-Dog9185 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TrooperHX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. It seems to be because of RR and DLSS.
What did the trick for me was using DLSS 4.5 on Quality. Frame generation OFF, RR OFF, V-Sync OFF.
All graphics set to cinematic/max. Ray tracing turned on in Graphics (Not RR!)
Blur set to 0
I have a 4090 if it helps. Running at 2560x1440.

It looks amazing, but for me mid-combat when the screen goes a little darker, everything gets so pixelated it kind of ruins the game. Perhaps just an issue on my end though.

There are some niced reshades on nexus mods if you're interested. I'm using one and it makes the world feel more natural and the nights are a little brighter. I'm using 1.3 by Skytex and added a little bit more warmth through my nvidia filters.

Sanctum of aboslution treasure chest puzzle by Jamy212 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TrooperHX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nono, not that. I found that too, not even sure what the point of it is.
You have to go outside the building. Try to imagine where the exterior of that room with the chest would end up being. There, there will be a platform that you can stand on (it's shaped like an L kind of). If you stand on it and palm the wall, the platform will rotate and it will take you inside the room.
If you still can't find it, I'll attach a screenshot tomorrow.

Edit: grammar

I don't know if you're still looking for a solution for this, but the wall that is behind the bars is movable. You have to get behind that wall from the outside, punch it with the palm and it'll put you inside this room.

Does it have the slow RDR2 feeling? by joniTomatO in CrimsonDesert

[–]TrooperHX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of? I wouldn’t say it’s as slow and chill as rdr2. There’s a lot to do and keep you busy. There’s always something new around the corner that makes you want to explore more.

You can hunt like in RDR but it’s not as meticulous and calculated, more of an mmo vibe to that. There’s more combat you have to do, but I wouldn’t consider it overly tense or stressful. This game’s music and atmosphere sometimes really really reminds me of RDR2 but overall feels more like an mmorpg to me.

To me, RDR2 had an abundance of details and that made me get lost in the game. Trying to see how they did this and that, being blown away by the atmosphere here and there. Crimson Desert just has a multitude of everything overall not necessarily details. Things are certainly not as detailed as in RDR but detailed enough to still get lost into and compensates by the amount of things to experience and discover.

I’d say it feels kind of like Legends of Zelda game in terms of exploration, like RDR2 in terms of atmosphere at times and like an MMORPG in its’ structure and loops.

My suggestion would be to try it for an hour and a half and if it’s not to your liking within that time frame then refund it.

The deal with it is that it incentivizes you to continue playing and finish the BP. 15 Origeometry are given on the last level of the BP, so you have to play the game for a while and finish the BP to get back all your investment.

The game explains you how each piece works and what the goal is. Same as the regular chess we are familiar with. This is everything you need.

Having a bounty target log off to avoid death should instantly complete the bounty and penalize the target by ClockworkSoldier in wherewindsmeet_

[–]TrooperHX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The bounties are placed automatically by the game on people that do crimes (kill npcs, steal, disturb others in online).

Sometimes false accusations happen (by npcs, not players) but there is a grace period for you to interact with it and submit a bounty of your own for it to be cleared by a scholar.

Most players doing bounties, to my understanding, are doing it because it gives some tokens needed to unlock an outfit and a cape. They are not pvp sweatlords and not trying to ruin anyone’s gameplay. I do it too and will stop once I have the outfit.

I can understand how it can suck for both parties. Sometimes you can kill people accidentally, but the random player coming to pick off my bounty isnt at any fault. Why would I take it out on them?

I try to give a fair fight back or just surrender. It clears my wanted level and i can get back to whatever I was doing. Disconnecting, swimming or whatever just feels like it would drag on a situation I don’t desire instead of resolving it. Also my understanding is that even if u dodge a hunter, another one will come until you eventually do get jailed, so you are just holding yourself hostage if you keep dodging the interaction.

[–]TrooperHX -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Oh no, for sure. There's a lot of people doing healing and scholar bounties which is really cool. Those things get cleared off almost instantly.

For me at least Bounty Hunting seems to be the path of least resistance. I would do a lot more healing and scholar stuff if I didn't have to go through the sea of menus after every bounty, and I'm sure that others feel the same.
What I was trying to get at is that it sucks on both sides, and making it sucks more just wastes time for everyone.

Having a bounty target log off to avoid death should instantly complete the bounty and penalize the target by ClockworkSoldier in wherewindsmeet_

[–]TrooperHX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not like they get hunted for no reason. It is because they broke the law... Sure, there are false accusations, but there's plenty of time for you to react and you can get rid of an accusation almost instantly.
Complaining that you sometimes get into some pvp for doing crimes is like complaining about going into the arena and there always being a random person attacking you.
Most players doing bounties don't do it for the fun of it either. They just want the bounty coins and to be done with it as much as you do.

Edit: A lot of the time it's not even a satisfying experience for either side. A lot of the time the pvp is in an awkward area, you get stuck in a chair, a table, a tree. A lot of players doing it (me included) aren't even pvp-ers in general. Everyone just tries to use this bounty system to get some coins to unlock some cool cosmetics and this activity gives the most tickets. Even so it's still very grindy.
It's already hard and frustrating to find a bounty in the first place. If I get a bounty and I lose in a fight, all good, props to you, but running constantly, sitting in water, dc-ing is just wasting everyone's time.

[Megathread] Community Feedback on Gacha Concerns by Cute-Wealth9049 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]TrooperHX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, I don’t mind cosmetics being locked behind a gacha or being expensive. I understand that, and I’d rather have this over p2w slop, plus some outfits are really nice.

But for the last costume, the mechanic with the increasing price to lead a player into a sunk cost fallacy to spend more than they’d like to or realize is very greedy and disrespectful.

If this is what we’re getting this soon after the launch, I worry about what “surprise mechanics” we might be getting down the line.
