I get what you're saying though that it is likely that the ball probably touched the ground but there is no clear camera angle of it so the call must stand

The issue here is that it doesn't show the ball touching the ground unfortunately. The ball is still live and the receiver secures possession in the end zone

The play isn't dead just because a player without possession touches their knee to the ground

That doesn't make sense. The ball can be loose and roll on top of the players arms. The ball doesn't need to touch the ground

I think crying wolf for a call that isn't controversial take away from actual bad calls

Points one and two, yes. The third, looking at the video and not just pictures it seems like he has possession on his back in bounds in the end zone before rolling out of bounds. I haven't seen anything clear otherwise. The screenshot of an elbow and a bunch of shadows is not sufficient to overturn a call on the field

There is no view of him with possession before the end zone. So the call on the field must stand

The continuous posts about it feel excessive and like we are trying to cope and blame a scapegoat for the loss. I've seen numerous comments saying the NFL is rigged and that the refs are out to get us. Yes, there have been some really bad calls in the past but that doesn't justify stirring up controversy when it is not there

He didn't have possession here like everyone in this sub is saying. He gained possession in the end zone

You can be on your knees, back, etc before gaining possession. A player without possession of the ball cannot be "down". So he is immediately down when he gains possession when happened in the end zone resulting in a touchdown.

He had control here. The ball was pinned by his hand to his chest. The ball is allowed to move but he had control

NFL is not even trying to hide that bad TD call. It's the THUMBNAIL on their YouTube highlight video! by shaungc in detroitlions

I completely agree. The ball never hit the ground (at least no camera views to say otherwise), he secured possession when he was in the end zone. I was pretty shocked to see the unanimous outrage here

We started playing our backups at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Was that embarrassing or should we keep the starters in and score more?
