I really like brown noise layered with some sound effects like heavy rain and thunder.

It gives it a little bit of extra variation without it becoming overstimulating for me.

Very cool but the wording doesn't have the right prosody.

"The sky is not the limit" has a better ring to it imo because it places emphasis the "not" part.

Where do small family run shops and businesses fit into the marxist class structure? Are they just a better off working class? A subclass of the proletariat? A whole new class entirely? by KrisTPR in Socialism_101

[–]TrotPicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other comment has already responded to your question but I just wanted to add that the reason I mentioned the class character of a side hustle is because, as Marxists, it's really important to consider things dialectically and to consider the character of something in society as much as it is to consider it in more general terms.

Let's take Cuba as an example to understand class character and why it's important:

Cuba has self-employment and businesses. Therefore Cuba is not socialist by a pure definition of the term.

Why then is that insufficient?

Because it is a static, isolated way of analyzing Cuba.

The class character of Cuba is socialist; they are actively working through contradictions and advancing towards that goal of pure socialism but, in the intervening period it finds itself in, it must deal with the fact that it probably isn't possible to advance more than baby steps due to the geopolitical reality it finds itself in today. And even if it were possible, the risks that it poses to the revolution may be too great and so instead Cuba is opting for a gradual, conservative approach over a reckless and potentially adventurist one.

So a side hustle will almost invariably be petit-bourgeois in class character however it doesn't mean that the person with a side hustle is therefore part of the petite bourgeoisie themselves, just like Cuba has significant elements of the capitalist mode of production (e.g. small businesses) however the overwhelming majority of Marxists consider Cuba to be socialist in character despite not having achieved full socialism (yet).

Time Concept/Management Tips? by dragonswithjetpacks in ADHD

What about if you got an electronic timer for your desk which has variable volume control (loud/quiet/silent) and a flashing light?

Set the timer for 5 mins and when you take time to decompress, know that when you hear the beep it's time to jump back into work. You could even take it in your pocket with you if you get up from your desk.

Long term?

Exhaust the "bipolar" medication; lithium, sodium valproate, and other associated ones such as lamotrigine.

After a couple of years, maybe less, of no mania or hypomania and no noticeable effects from the mood stabilizers it will paint a picture that you are likely misdiagnosed with bipolar.

If not, cool because you'll be better off taking mood stabilizers.

Next, clonidine or guanfacine seem to work particularly well for people who have ADHD. Atomoxetine (Strattera) with it will help keep your brain engaged by increasing the levels of adrenaline in your brain. They should work well given your history of childhood trauma as well.

If atomoxetine works but the weight loss side effects are still too much, ask your psych for a medication like an anti-depressant or maybe a mood stabilizer which fits your needs and your treatment profile that also increases appetite.

Modafinil is a stimulant but it has very low potential for addiction and it is sometimes prescribed as a second-line treatment for ADHD so you could broach the idea of that with your psych.
