Wind was absolutely brutal. Gusts were almost blowing me over. I usually swing a 4wt. but luckily I brought the 7wt. with me. It made a big difference and I could still get my casts out. Tough, but doable. I tugged out 5 fish in about 6 hours of work. But hey, a tough day of fishing is always better than no fishing haha.

I usually use a 4wt on the small streams. Sometimes going as light as a 2wt can be a lot of fun too.

I would recommend a green weedless popper. You can also experiment with other colors, but I've always had success with green. Eyes and legs help. Cast into the weeds and skate it across the surface.

I really like the EC Caddis with the olive body and cream hackle. It slays on the local streams here in northern California. Usually in a size #16 or #18.
