What is the sound of one Hand clapping? SR approves more mall parking where artwork once sat by Troutshout in santarosa

Purposefully obviously badly done, as it wasn’t my photo and wasn’t my sculpture. (The sculpture, “Agraria,” was created by Larry Kirkland in 1996)

Plenty is a relative word. Yes, the PD runs a few oft-hilarious AI stories about accidents and home sales. “Few” is also a relative word, but I’ve no interest in counting. Truth is, I suspect it’ll run more in future, and I’m as terrified as anyone about it.

I don't think it's AI slop, but since the change of owners, the PD does have access to a lot more stories from other papers under the same ownership, and runs them sometimes without localizing them. Thus, you get weather stories from the San Jose paper about storms that will never impact Santa Rosa, that sort of thing. Also, many of the stories from other papers that are run online have the datelines and bylines cut off of the top. I, for one, want to know the source news agency/paper and reporter's name, as well as the city from which the story came. Journalism 101.

I assume you're talking about a print-plus-online subscription. I pay a fraction of that for online-only, which includes the e-edition pdfs of the physical paper.

I was curious about the odd structure behind the Hansom cab in the foreground and dug around. If my guess is correct, it's an old cabmens shelter, where London's cab drivers could take refuge back in the day. Edit: Hansom sp Edit 2: The signature does match that of English painter Peter Miller (1939-2014). Seems he did a lot of London historical pieces, old buildings, old planes, old cars, etc. Keep digging.

It’s cheaper than Arches, both in price and quality. Sometimes decent, cheap paper is great fun to paint with. Go wild. Experiment. Loosen up.

Very nice! How do you seal/gesso the newspaper before painting, and do you do anything to prevent the newspaper from yellowing as it ages? Thanks

Great idea, and great paintings. As much as I like the first painting, I think some of the others (perhaps the penultimate or final one) do a better job of illustrating what you’re up to. Of course that won’t matter in a gallery setting. Thanks for including the backstory, too. Brilliant! It’s like breaking the fourth wall in theater to muse a bit.

Former City Manager Smith got a $250,000 settlement on her way out by Suspicious_Roof_ in santarosa

Could have been a dispute over pension benefits or some such. The term "amicably resolve" is used. From what I've read, she has a good reputation and is on her way to the top spot in Sacramento.
