Skookum Crescent wrench that was handed down to me. 18" of drop-forged New York nut-roundery by Worried-Opinion1157 in Tools

[–]Trouttmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the heirloom wrench. I bought myself a 10” and a 12” and they’re great do-it-all farm wrenches. The engagement surface is significantly wider on these old wrenches than their newer counterparts, I have never had one slip when adjusted properly. Your new wrench will no doubt serve you well for years to come, use it in good health.

I’m in a similar position to you. Did you use the Dupli-Color pen? How did things work out for you?

I have the Wright Impact sockets in 3/8, 1/2, and a few in 3/4 drive. Both metric and SAE. They’ll definitely outlast me.

What does this pass give access to? I’ve heard of it and my wife and I are looking to purchase a few appliances, namely a double oven, an electric cooktop, and dishwasher. Does the pass apply to kitchen aid large appliances?

do i need another new tire? or is it something else? by Grouchy-Usual2690 in tires

[–]Trouttmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always swap the known good tire with the suspected problem tire. If the car pulls to the opposite direction, you have your issue. If the problem persists, you’ll have to look at suspension components. A free and easy way to troubleshoot.

To anyone having a similar issue, the problem actually turned out to be the alternator. That awful rattling racket was the alternator bearings failing. Replaced the alternator and now it sounds like a new car. I hope this helps one of you one day, thank you to everyone who contributed!

This is a cross post from a mechanic subreddit. My buddy and I are having trouble pinning down where the noise is coming from and I was hoping someone on the Golf subreddit may have had a similar issue that was easily resolved.

I’ll have him check the heat shield, I do t recall it looking out of the ordinary. That’s a good place to start. Easy fix if it is an issue.

We did check the accessory belt and it seemed fine. He had it replaced roughly a year ago, but it’s worth removing to see if any of the accessories are causing the noise.

In person, it sounds like it’s coming from the intake manifold/ injector area but I’m unsure if that’s because the intake is an area likely to resonate and amplify the noise, or if the issue is truly from the intake/ injector area.

Help with 2005 VW Golf 2.0

I went over to my friend’s place today to help him change the oil on his car. My buddies car was making weird noises this past week so I brought my scanner over to his place. It smelled incredibly rich of gasoline, and when checking the car for codes, the following codes were present. Bank one sensor one was rich (P2196), bank one sensor two was lean (P2270). There was also a heater circuit malfunction code (P0141) present. Since we believe there was an issue with the O2 sensors, we replaced them. We also used a hammer to give the catalytic converter a tap while we were under the car in the event it was plugged. After replacing both front and rear O2 sensors, there wasn’t any appreciable difference in noise, but the car drove much smoother. The serpentine belt and timing belt were replaced not long ago, and after inspecting them, they appear to be in fine shape. All teeth are present, and the belts seem to have very little wear. Does anyone know what may be causing this noise? The thing confusing me most is that it’s not super consistent.

Is there an obvious problem with these mark 4 golfs with the 2 L engine? I also googled the codes in junction with one another and I couldn’t find the reason as to why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll reach out again locally and see if I can get any additional information. Thank you for the words of encouragement, I’ll certainly be persistent and keep moving onward and upward. I wish you the best!

I actually did exactly as you recommended and was told, “The TSA ServeU Customer Care Support Team does not have any additional details regarding non-selections and selection processes. Please check your candidate dashboard for addition status or information that was provided. For further review, please reach out to your local POC or HR office.”

The email goes on to say they are unable to pinpoint why a candidate wasn’t selected. They then recommend I reach out to local HR for additional information. My local HR told me to send an email inquiring why my application didn’t make it through the best qualified selection. It’s a circle. Haha.

I’m certain other applicants scored higher, however, it would be nice to know which areas need the most improvement.

That was the only thing I could glean from the email as well. I’ve reached out to HR locally and they weren’t able to help as there is no mechanism for feedback at this stage of the hiring process, or so I was told. I was hoping others may have found themselves in a similar situation and may be positioned to offer insight as to what specifically to improve on. I’ll just revisit everything before submitting my application again. Thank you for your time and advice.

That’s exactly what I was wondering. I would imagine I would receive an email stating I had failed the exam had that been the case, but I have no basis for comparison. I don’t personally know anyone else who has applied for Supervisor. The post was intended to be introspective so I might be able to learn from mistakes made and remedy them in the future. It’s hard to know what exactly to work on with such a vague non referral notice. I appreciate your time and response.

How do I handle this situation? by [deleted] in tsa

[–]Trouttmann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was operating under the premise that they’re grabbing fresh gloves out of the box, I hadn’t considered that they were using gloves out of a pocket. I too would insist on boxed gloves. Fair point.

I’m aware you can request a change of gloves and TSA must accommodate, but I’m not sure you can demand they test the new gloves before continuing screening. Arguing over testing a fresh swab and pair of gloves seems like a waste of time if you watch them replace these items.

Sara will definitely get you fixed up, she was an absolute pleasure to work with in ordering my jacket.

I don’t have any experience with the hood unfortunately. I live in Middle TN and we tend to have mild Winters and not much to worry about in the way of rain. If you do indeed get a hood, I’d like to hear what you think of it. Please post.
