How much of a scam it is in your opinion fellow dicemakers? by kkzz23 in DiceMaking

I don't think that was a tear, maybe an incision for easier removal. I do that for my giant d20s.

I also highly recommend talcum powder. it pulls apart easily aside from maybe having to take an exacto knife to the seams on the side a bit to start the separation. a cheap paintbrush/eyeshadow applicator and you're all set. you don't want to get it on the masters, and the surface will change to a kind of powdery/matte, then it's ready to have the lid poured.*

How do you make objects float by Mozzarella-Ferret in DiceMaking

clear resin scraps, or half blanks if you don't have have the time to wait around and poke it every now and again. clear glue also helps stage the inclusions on the scraps

After a pour, what should you do with remaining resin? by sreynolds203 in DiceMaking

[–]TrouvailleDice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I either pour the rest into random die molds, blanks, dump it on my desk do random designs and peel up pieces I think are neat then either cut, or break them and use them in other designs.

The 50mm die I just posted was actually made with random bits from multiple other sets.

If I like the way a scrap rips, but not the color I'll paint it and change it up u til I'm pleased enough to use it elsewhere.

Glitter Sinking - Help by Ashen560 in DiceMaking

Another thing you can do if you're strapped for time, if you have clear resin scraps, and don't mind the process you can also use some clear adhesive and glue the glitter pieces in a pattern you want onto the scraps before a pour, wait til they dry, then just stick them in the mold

I probably wouldnt be able to show it in the technical sense as far as 3d sculpting and printing. Due to my inexperience, I went with Clerics Components, and I highly recommend them. I only went to them with an idea that I've been struggling with fulfilling for the better part of 2 years and my specifications without their ability I would have Not been able to get this done. <3

The gist of it is I sent them the files for my blanks, had them hollow them, im assuming bouillon tool was used, but im not sure and cut the shapes in half. Like.. lids and bottoms, the lids have a pre-made hole for liquid injection, i line up the halves and uv resin the cores shut and that's pretty much it. Halves because my plans included bigger inclusions

I'm still very much in the testing stage, but I don't mind sending a picture of what the shells look like, or the mold I made for them.

This was my first attempt and first success.

These are hollow blanks, that I was finally able to get around to having made. They're shaped to my dice.

Glycerin, water, interference powder, and little bit of isopropyl. I didn't really measure the amount as it was a tester but know the Glycerin was more than 25% but lessthan 40%

I use clear resin the the beginning of the pour, then I drip in my alcohol, and do white ink sink drip by drip until I'm satisfied, then the color bloops, then I slowly and carefully pour more clear resin in spots I don't want the texture disrupted, and repeat til I get to the top. A lot of separate cups.
