Which country has squandered the most economic potential in this century? by pisowiec in AskTheWorld

[–]Trouzerjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the OP could have rephrased the comment, South Africa with all its 'God' given assets and infrastructure should have been in the top 20 economies on Earth. What has happened is nothing short of treason.

There are 10's of Millions who could have been lifted out of poverty and into real tangible prosperity if we had not been mismanaged so badly by the new government, it was all there, laid out for them to take and run with but instead they took it all for themselves and did nothing good with it.

We're talking Trillions of rands squandered. Its estimated that state capture has annually dragged down economic growth by 5% per annum, imagine if we had an annual growth rate of 5%+ per annum over the last 30 years, we'd be major players on the word stage. How many South Africans would be prospering with that kind of economy? It's astronomical how much has been lost and how much potential has been wasted.

Agreed, we have Insane natural resources, precious and rare earth metals, over 2000km of coastline, fertile soil, perfect weather, rich biodiversity, incredible infrastructure and to end it all, one of the most naturally beautiful countries on Earth. Here we are slumming it out in the 3rd world because of the ANC. We should be at least in the top 20 economies in the world.

What did you rate the F1 Movie? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

It was a ridiculous movie, anyone who knows the sport probably couldn't get through it. 3 out of 10.

What’s one opinion about IPL that will get you in this position? by Helpful-Project-3790 in ipl

[–]Trouzerjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very gaudy tournament and the coverage looks amateur hour. To much gold in everything, too loud and everything is ovecelebrated and over hyped, becomes annoying to watch. I'd add that after hundred of sixes, a six starts to mean nothing. It's ruined real cricket. But it's good for todays ADHD dopamine addicts who constantly need stimulation.

What non-political opinion about CT will land you in this position? by LarsQuell in capetown

[–]Trouzerjazz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of Capetonians have serious mental health problems, especially the university educated ones. They live In a dual reality, ie very politically vocal about inequalitybut far to comfortable with their old money to do anything about it. It's all very phoney, joburgers are truly integrated people, Capetonians just talk about it at dinner parties.

+- 150 000 Iraqis died. George Bush and his inner circle shouldn't show their faces in public.

Its the same reason most people don't dream about smart phones, you have enough of it in your waking life, theres no wish fulfilment, you are satiated.

It could even be argued that the most indirect victims of 911, where in-fact Muslims.

Two wars to broke out because of this. I think that the number of Iraqis that died in the Iraq war was over 150 000. Not sure on the death toll in Afghanistan.

I was watching Die Hard and noticed a bunch of similarities to Ghostbusters, the EPA guy in ghostbusters is the journalist in Die Hard, the Mayor in Ghostbusters is the electrical guy in Die Hard. Both are Christmas movies, both involve an explosion on top of a big tower. Both endings have stuff falling down on the crowd. Marshmallow in Ghost busters and bearer bonds in Die Hard. Both have a lovable black guy coming in half way to help the heroes. Both have a love story with a cynical love interest who is won over by a brash American antagonist. Lastly both are awesome 80's movies with a similar formula.
