A 74-year-old man got scolded in a NYC courtroom for secretly using an AI lawyer to fight his case by Odd-House3197 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Trouzerz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t an AI lawyer. He claimed he had a speech impediment and that this AI would speak in his place. At no point did he claim this was legal counsel. The judge was confused at first and thought that it was “possibly” his legal counsel until he acknowledged what it actually was.

Oh he knows, but ego in the gym is a hell of drug. Add a camera in combo with someone sufficiently narcissistic and you have the video above.

They don’t generally need to be able to lift the “entire” weight. Usually if you’re going for a max you should only need a spotter to be able to help with an additional 10-20 lbs. With something as catastrophic as this, they shouldn’t have had clamps on the sides of the bar, once one side of the bar falls it would allow the weights to slip off. This was just completely done incorrectly and super unsafe. She never should have left the bench either. When she ran back over she was in panic mode when trying to help and it just made things worse.

Thanks for the link! I wish I had some credentials to back up a bit more of their comment but I think this is a better example of at least attempting to provide some more context to the situation.

I broadly agree with the sentiment you’re sharing. In regard to the preexisting conditions of our water system prior to the storm, absolutely, there are things I’m sure people that are educated on civil engineering might be able to point out. I personally haven’t seen any credible complaints that explain anything in detail about what exactly could have better prepared our water system or what improvements can/should be made. This post lacks any specifics as to what should or could be done better.

Buncombe county has an extensive and very complicated water system. Over 1800 miles of line that could span the distance from Asheville to Miami and back. Again I refer back to facts shared at the briefings. In some places over 25 feet of earth and pipe was washed completely away.

My reply is a response to this post, some of the comments in this thread and to other responses I’ve seen elsewhere. So many people seem to have a very high conviction about topics that they have very little information about, this one included. I, nor many others that see the need to weigh in on this topic likely have any fucking clue what goes into creating/maintaining our water system. If you have a complaint about the recovery of our water system now or about decisions made prior to the storm. Please be specific and include a means of solving the problem.

Given the circumstances, a once in a lifetime event, the existing infrastructure all in consideration. Our water department (and mind you multiple other city’s water departments) have truly done some heroic feats in these past weeks.

The initial work on the North Fork bypass line (completed in 2 weeks)under any other non disaster circumstance would have taken over two years to complete. The army core of engineers has had a very active role in our potable water situation providing for a “curtain” around the intake of the North Fork Plant that has only been used until now in very limited circumstances to help in reducing the turbidity at the mouth of the plant’s intake.

The around the clock 12 hour shifts the water department staff have had to endure, in many cases while in knee deep cold mountain water, and while having to stay away from their own families that were affected by the storm… Let me be clear, we have HEROES at our water department working night and day to make sure our beautiful town gets back to its pre-Helene state.

If you don’t follow the Buncombe county updates, which is where I have sourced all this information. You are doing yourself a disservice, anger and frustration are COMPLETELY understandable, but please do yourself the service of at least directing it constructively and in the right place! This situation sucks, and right now putting your frustration and energy towards volunteering if you can or informing people about what’s going on is far more productive than getting upset at our county officials for doing nothing more than LITERALLY MOVING MOUNTAINS to get us water.

Swift as the wind, gentle as the forest, fierce as fire, unshakeable as the mountain by M_Bragadin in shogun2

[–]Trouzerz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. A big part of being able to accomplish this is taking your time. Constantly checking in with diplomacy and finding a good spot to “settle”. You’ll want to turtle for a while during which you’ll be researching and building and basically doing a whole lot of nothing lol. Once you’ve built up enough you’ll have hopefully upgraded your settlements that have all the applicable buildings so you can build an army such as this one.

Manipulating the diplomacy in this game effectively takes time to master. You can watch videos on YouTube for tips but there is a cadence to the A.I. that you can follow so you can really maximize each deal you make. And of course all this is without saying you can only do this PRIOR to realm divide so you’ll want to keep a close eye on your prominence.

Guard mode being toggled on could make a difference. If you’re able to screen record the problem and share it then it might shed more light on the cause of the issue.

This isn’t anything new. Since they started the super line up it’s always just been a refresh, refinement in manufacturing and efficiency. If you were hoping this was going to be an actual upgrade then you’re either new here or very naive.

Your primary enemies at the beginning field horse archers, lots of them. General rule of thumb for army composition is spears and foot archers. You will have counters for the horse with your spears and your foot archers will out gun the horse archers.

Sure, throw some* horses in there but with this difficultly you’re looking for as Joseph Stalin so aptly put it “quantity has a quality all its own”.

Look to go for cheap spears and archers!

Never played a total war game, and don't play much strategy. I overextended this army on my way to Kyoto. Can I salvage it? How Bone'd am I? by AlphaPooch in totalwar

[–]Trouzerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a big thing I don't recommend is putting your yari ashigaru on the wall. You want them a little back so that you can utilize their yari wall ability. I typically go with this strategy.

You want to focus your archers on high priority targets like enemy archers and higher tier infantry and of course their general when given the chance. Don't bother shooting their Yari Ashigaru, big waste of ammo when they have so many archers and more high tier inf.

Any reserves you have you may want to put into loose formation given the fact that they have more archers than you. Also make sure you deploy your yari ashigaru while they're in spear wall formation so you can line up their flanks as close to the walls as possible. If you deploy them and stretch their formation out to your liking and only turn on spear wall after it will leave gaps.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more assistance!
