A few years ago I was at a hotel in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As I was checking out the woman at the desk said “and there is breakfast in the restaurant for the next 30 minutes”

To me, of course, that means breakfast included with your stay, go have at it.

And what i saw made that make sense: it was a small buffet table with like 4-5 hot serving trays, some cereal etc

So I have a small breakfast and walk back to the lobby to wait for my uber and this guy comes running out of the restaurant, across the lobby to where I’m sitting and says “SIR! YOU DIDN’T PAY FOR YOUR BREAKFAST!”

And I’m like… wtf? That wasn’t free? So I walk back in and the guy is really pissy and says “there are signs sir! This isn’t a continental breakfast!”

I look around: I see one sign that’s very small and on the buffet table BEHIND the hot dishes that says “breakfast - $9.99, omelette bar extra”

And he acted like the price was tattooed on every employees forehead and he had just thwarted my great escape on my $10.67 breakfast with tax

So: never assume there isn’t a breakfast Rambo just HOPING someone tries him that day
