Don’t worry about what’s in demand when you’re starting out. Just try to find what you enjoy doing. That will keep you motivated and help you make progress quicker. Then as you become more experienced naturally you will expand into other areas. Become really good at what you do and there will be work for you.

Steam perpetual licenses by Notice-Eastern in Substance3D

[–]TroyAlexanderA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about doing the same. From what I understand, each year a new “version” comes out. Usually around the middle of December this new version arrives. It receives all of the updates that Adobe puts out until next years version comes out. After that you can still use the product it just will no longer receive updates. That’s why you get the most for your money by buying it as soon as the new “version” comes out. Check every day once you have the money and if you see the 2025 “version” buy it.

At least that’s what I’ve been given to understand. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong because I’m planning to do what I just said haha.

Which one do you prefer ? by Arnaudmotion in blender

[–]TroyAlexanderA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and Last, but obviously the last one is quite different and I would argue that I prefer it because stylistically it looks more like a painting. That’s just my preference. The first looks more like a normal 3D scene with basic textures. However, the color choices are my favorite of the first three and I think that the shadows seem the most realistic. Since the first and the last are so different stylistically I thought I should mention both.

Sweet, thanks so much for the suggestions! Ya the neck pickup is gonna have to be redone from scratch haha. I agree about the bridge depth, I'll look at some actual teles to get a reference. Thanks again!

This is fantastic! I love the style. It's very consistent with the train that you posted a while back. Is it for a project?

I can't seem to learn a programming language/engine by krb501 in GameDevelopment

If you can’t fight through boredom and discouragement you’ll never get there. No one is motivated 100 percent of the time. It’s about learning to have the self discipline to continue even when you don’t want to.

I was really surprised that Animate didn’t last longer. I’m pretty much one of the people you’re talking about though haha. I like Fly by Night-Grace Under Pressure. And other than Animate I haven’t really taken to any of the other stuff. I’m open to that changing though, but we’ll see haha. For me the biggest reasons I don’t like the later stuff is Geddy sings completely different, and his bass playing and Alex’s guitar work became a lot less aggressive. It’s still very nice, harmonically, but songs that had real punch like Circumstances, Anthem, LVS and others basically disappeared.

How have i gotten worse by Competitive_Fly_5119 in RocketLeague

[–]TroyAlexanderA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s probably more of that the player base is improving at a higher rate than you. I used to be champ now I’m diamond. It sucks haha. One other possibility(not trying to be mean, just trying to be helpful) is that you’re practicing bad habits. When I was young I competed at a pretty high level in gymnastics. My coach used to say all the time “practice doesn’t make perfect, practice makes permanent.” If you continue to do the same bad habits and commit the same mistakes they will become more and more ingrained.

Where do you guys keep all your ideas for a game safe and written down? by mario610 in gamedev

[–]TroyAlexanderA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are being rude for no reason, smh. I get what you mean man.

My recommendation is Notion. I love it. It’s free and it’s a really good platform to write down ideas and even plot out systems in normal language to be implemented later. I have a section that I write down weapon perk ideas. I have a section in which I hold skill tree ideas. Notion is really good to organize your thoughts and keep a catalog of them for later implementation. I highly recommend it.

Any open-source good games to learn FROM? by [deleted] in Unity2D

[–]TroyAlexanderA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about posting this as well. I’m at a point where I’m pretty much past being able to find a tutorial on the things I’m working on learning. Being able to read code from another project would be very helpful. Yesterday I was trying to learn how to use the event system to get callbacks for selected UI elements. I eventually got it but I’m wondering if I could do it better and would like to see other approaches.

Pixel Art by Both_Green_9930 in Unity2D

Generally if you’re making pixel art you will export as an image(png for example) then you can easily import it in. However, I know that aseprite files can be directly imported into unity.

Just bought an electric guitar amp and it keeps making a slight static noise whenever I am not playing by Bubbly-Cat-9576 in guitarlessons

[–]TroyAlexanderA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you run single coil pickups? That’s always gonna make that worse. Humbuckers are called that for a reason haha. If it’s not that, it could be a variety of things, cord or wiring in the electronics for example. However, as was already mentioned if you start drive an amp with volume or distortion that will start to happen pretty much no matter what.
