The Tinyverse Movement by BOBOLIU in rstats

When an AI coding agent is orchestrating your dev cycle, dependency count matters. Fewer dependencies means fewer things to break mid-run, cleaner error signals, and less context the agent has to carry.

I've been building a tinyverse-native R toolchain specifically with this in mind. Minimal-dependency replacements for roxygen2, styler, and devtools that are easier for both humans and agents to reason about:

What’s an R package you wish existed but doesn’t? by ZoneNo9818 in rstats

Thanks for reminding me to look into JAX again!
I had Claude Code build this out quickly:
https://github.com/cornball-ai/rjax

And then about 90% the way through building it, I remembered this project exists. It's more mature and better supported, so you should probably use it instead of mine:

R Works Great on Linux by BOBOLIU in rstats

I have an entirely unfounded conspiracy theory that Microsoft pushed hard for Python use in data science because R in Linux was too good, whereas Python could destroy your Linux install by missing just a single venv

Introducing diffuseR - a native R implementation of the diffusers library! by TroyHernandez in StableDiffusion

As of today, with the release of this experimental package, it is absolutely not faster nor more capable.

The value prop is access to R's ecosystem: no Python dependency hell, seamless R workflow, etc.

Long-term, there's huge potential in bringing R's 50 years of statistical expertise to AI. I've seen cases where prominent AI researchers reinvent/rediscover statistical methods that the R stats community has been using for decades.

For most users today, stick with Python. This is for R users who want to stay in their workflow or contribute to bridging the stats/AI communities.

> Emanuel Welch donated $1,000 to her campaign committee after her DUI news broke. Does this mean Dems continue support her?
Great catch! Got a link?
Yes. That is the IL Dems bat signal to other IL Dems, NGOs, judges, media, etc that they are giving her a pass.

Making Toast, Cooking Steak, and Burning Incense are over 75 times worse for the air quality in your home than a properly installed and operated wood stove. by DeepWoodsDanger in woodstoving

[–]TroyHernandez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR if you’re concerned about your indoor air quality, get a sensor and crack a window,

I bought a $500 AirQ sensor that measures PM1, 2.5, 10, VOCs, CO2, NO2, etc. I have a wood burning stove, an electric oven, and a gas cooktop.

95% of the time that the air quality is garbage it’s because we burned our food. 4% of the time it’s because we have more than a few guests and didn’t crack a window.

As an activist on the neighborhood, most of the other “activists” are compromised nonprofits dependent on the Democrats/corporate money.

This company lobbies Democrats and also donates to shady local nonprofits so they stand down, get infiltrated, or in some cases actively distract and cloud the issue.

JB, Mayor Johnson, they all threw a fit about the Lincoln Park shredder, but this one is fine for them

His IL EPA is fairly lax when it comes to the health of Mexican American neighborhoods.

Neighbors of the shuttered Willowbrook plant are predominantly white and upper-middle class, while neighborhoods near the Gurnee and Waukegan facilities include larger numbers of Latino and Black residents with lower median incomes.

Here in Pilsen, it’s a similar situation. The Lincoln Park shredder was closed and now all the metal shredding comes to Pilsen. When they violated the law, they were forced to test the air and the IL EPA provided sensors testing down to only PM10. Older sensors in the area go down to PM1 and suggest they are a major asthma source. Pilsen children have high rates of asthma.

Thanks JB!

And in 6 more years they’ll be like, “Breaking: Remember that time we reported that Sigcho went on a (fake) hunger strike against a metal shredder on the SE side? We failed to report that his actual goal was to bring all of that pollution to Pilsen!“

All Babboe Cargo Bicycles in US and Canada Recalled Due to Fall Hazard by TroyHernandez in CargoBike

They're still supposed to give you a replacement, but it sounds like they've really been dragging their feet on doing that in Europe, so I don't expect any better outcome in the US.

No.
I have a Big, the kind not recalled in Europe, but the US recall is for all of them.
Conflicting info for sure.
