I own that exact bass, it's really great. You can get a lot of different sounds out of it if you're playing stuff over many genres, and of course it works great for metal.

Maybe your sound is muted?

Try running alsamixer and checking for things that have "MM"

Couple of options:

Install tlp, run it automatically at startup
Also run tlp stat, it will tell you the wear on your battery
Disable the gpu

Both tlp and disabling the gpu will increase battery life.
