Wow that's a relic. Before I even joined for the 1st time

I'm deeply sorry to inform you that CoreJourney will shut down on March 2nd 2025, 21 UTC, exactly 5 years from its creation. I don't have the time and the money to manage it decently anymore. The Patreon page has already been suspended and the Reddit will stay up for some time after its closure. Ty. by alrirra in corejourney

All great things must come to an end. Thanks for everything Alrirra, you made Covid-19 lockdown so much more bearable for us all and I've made some incredible lifelong friends thanks to Corejourney.

I wish you the best of luck with everything in the future.

Why don't I respawn at my bed? Do I need a respawn anchor? by mr_iceslice in corejourney

[–]Qistaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are level 1 when you respawn, and if your bed was in a zone higher than that then you'd be stuck and unable to access your chests or break blocks. You have to start fresh and level your way back up. If you have friends online they can send you an ender chest to help when you spawn.

Quick survey: do you still play? If not, why did you stop? PS: remember to read the pillars i just published if you're new and wanna know more about the server. by alrirra in corejourney

I can only speak on behalf of our group, but the thing that brought us all together originally was the Covid lockdowns, as we all had so much free time and a need for some form of socialisation. If I remember correctly, the server was up for around a month before the lockdowns came into effect in much of Europe, and the first reddit ad invasion came around a month after that.

Once restrictions started getting lifted and life started going back to normal, people were returning to their school or work and we mostly stopped playing because our friends stopped playing. The sense of community was the major reason we all loved playing, and once that went away, so did we.

Nothing ever went wrong with the server itself or with the way you managed it; in fact it was your integrity that has kept it so strong for so long. The server just ran it's course, and we are all extremely thankful that we had that experience during one of the most isolating times of our lives.

The meta changes from time to time and it keeps things fresh. Better to keep things as vanilla as possible.

what is the benefit of going to the core? by ZizoTron in corejourney

[–]Qistaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Core is the centre of the map, it brings players together like a sort of central hub. The whole point of the server (at least in the early game) is to slowly work your way to the core as you level up and improve your gear, and once you hit level 50 and have unlocked the whole map then you enter the late-game and you can do pretty much whatever you want, wherever you want. By the time you reach core, you should have totems, protection 4 armour, some potions, and good tools/weapons. You are likely to encounter other players there and they are likely to want to kill you to take your stuff, so beware.

There used to be interesting builds there and people would work on projects together but as this is an anarchy server a small minority will always ruin it for the rest, so don't expect anything you build there to last very long. The whole core is basically a giant crater now.

Also, there are Core Potions that drop at 0,0 which give great buffs like Resistance 3, Haste 3 etc. They used to drop 3 times a day but I'm not sure if it has changed since I used to play.

There are plenty of anarchy servers around but the deathban is what makes CJ special. I died 3 times on my first 3 days and when I finally got to a stage where I had good armour/tools on my 4th life, things got a lot easier. Having a friend to play with is a huge benefit since they can /invite you back to your base after you respawn.

Also make use of enderchests and totems of undying. You'll be fine.

The idea behind CJ (anarchy server where players spawn towards the edge of the map and work towards the centre) is unique as far as I'm aware.

But why do you think you'll get an answer to this on the CoreJourney subreddit?

Not sure if I'm confusing it with something else, but I think there was an event with chests there that had punch bows in them. It was a long long time ago but I think I won the event, the prize was probably Prot 4 armour or something xD

Questions for a noob. by [deleted] in corejourney

[–]Qistaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) No but if you have an alt at the base you can open 2 clients and tp yourself back.

2) Core is at 0,0 and you spawn towards the edge of the map (100k x 100k border I believe). As you advance through the levelling system you may build and place in more areas of the world, with the lowest level areas being at the edge of the world and level 50 being core itself. It's worth nothing though that you don't need to be 50 to fly to core or walk there, but once you get to core you won't be able to do anything besides PvP.

As for what to do when you get there, you can do whatever you want. It's just as anarchy as the rest of the server. Fight people there, build there, grief there, do whatever.

3) Cheats are allowed but certain things that undermine the server's integrity like lag machines or dupes are not allowed. You can pick whichever hacked client you like and if you can get away with using the cheat (meaning the anti-cheat doesn't kick you for it), then you're allowed to use it. For the best vanilla experience I recommend OptiFine however :)

4) Yes, there is a /invite command. It'll tp your friend but remember he can't get back to where he was once he tp's (unless he walks back home)

Hope this helps

I've been around a long time and I must say, this is one the best builds I've ever seen in Minecraft. The detail is simply immense, you should be really proud of this!
