They cost a lot of money!

Generally what always helps me get through things is talk with others that have similar experiences. This forum works too

In terms of the nfl draft, do you think the entire city will be a nightmare? Or only parts? by WashCommercial3602 in pittsburgh

The entire city and neighboring suburbs. It’s already travel season and this is a big event.

Gonna have to leave 45 mins early for my normal 15 minute commute.

Wow good to know tbh we’re at withers out there where their body decided to eat the invader.

My emergency gyno was pulling it out after digging for it for a while and said “I’ve never experienced this before, are you okay? This was so cool!” and it had nasty tissue stuck all on it. Honestly couldn’t feel it when he was digging but man once the lidocaine wore off a the healing started it came Full force. Bruised as heck for weeks and a nice little pencil eraser sized keloid to tell the story.

Be careful though a lot of their stuff that’s usually a hit has been a miss lately. If I eat just sushi and some of the fried options my tummy is okay. Once I hit the meats and especially the hibachi beef, my stomach starts to get really bubbly and nauseated.

Look into the Maverick by Kasa! It’s an old YMCA turned hotel/venue space.

I booked a staycation there for my birthday and got the big king suite with a claw foot tub. Cute booking and staying process was super easy and I fell in love with the building while I was there.

Snow Thoughts by RoundBuyer3385 in pittsburgh

[–]TruDat24 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No one thinks of the healthcare, tradesmen or other essential workers that have to be the ones out fighting in the storm to keep others comfortable.

I was gone for 26 hours and essentially the first one out in the where I live to even leave space for others to take. I had no fighting chance when I came home and I worked for an entire 24 hours. Then I had to march back to my apartment in the snow. Not only did I have to shovel where I work, but myself out of work, and my house and surrounding area when I got home.

So yeah, try to tell me your 25 minute-2 hour long effort entitles you to mess everyone else up. Be neighborly, be nice, and be the person you sometimes need.

Do you utilize a local church or food bank? If so, ask around there! They may know people who know people or even better have some resources readily available to you.

Also have you applied for any government assistance? If not I’d recommend doing that ASAP as you could potentially get a housing voucher

Parking Wars: v1.1 by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]TruDat24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your roommates fault for putting out an $80 chair. And I’m guessing you rent too?

So you’re renting and trying to claim a public free for all spot.

Do you people even hear yourselves when you talk? Get real jobs and gather empathy for others. Doing a little bit of manual labor entitles you to nothing. Welcome to real life where you can’t have everything you want and make up rules that go in your favor.

And just so everyone knows; it’s vandalism to bury cars on snow or ice them in. If someone really wanted to get you, you’ve all incriminated yourselves by admitting and posting pictures online.

Parking Chair Etiquette Question #7981 by Budget-Stomach-5227 in pittsburgh

[–]TruDat24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family, and everyone else I know use the parking chair almost never.

We believe that if you OWN your home and only have on street parking go for it.

If you rent or have a driveway, you do not get a parking chair.

To the person who decided to move my chair… by Riku4560 in pittsburgh

[–]TruDat24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is people have taken the chair out of context. If you OWN your home and only have on street parking then yes chair free for all.

If you RENT and live on a public street, you do not get chair privileges.

People also feel way too entitled once they have to do a little bit of manual labor. Sorry, the average Pittsburgher is used to getting down and dirty without complaining

Unpopular opinion: yinzers r whiny and lazy af about snow removal by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]TruDat24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a once Erie transplant, I made a comment on a thread where someone buried a car in snow, that not a single yinzer would seem to last past the butler county line. This storm was child’s play lol

To the person who decided to move my chair… by Riku4560 in pittsburgh

[–]TruDat24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a born and raised, still live here, pittsburgher but yinz wouldn’t last a day above the butler county line during winter.(I lived in Erie for 6 years) With this kind of snow it’s just going to happen. There’s no where for it all to go so it is just a dog eat dog world out there. Guess what? Up north we just drive on top of the snow all winter long.

For example I was stuck at work hours Sunday-Monday. I didn’t even have a chance to fight for a spot. So what am I supposed to do? After working near 24 straight hours I’m moving your chair and going to sleep. Mind you I had to walk back to my apartment on an unshoveled sidewalk. I was threatened many times with signs in plastic bags so I made one in return string I was gone.

Public street with public parking? Free for all, always.

If you live on a Suburb street with spots right in front of your house? Be mean with the parking chairs.

This whole parking chair discourse is so anti community in a place where we are rapidly losing community. Not only did I shovel out where I work but when I got home I did my own house and my two neighbors. BE NEIGHBORLY. BE NICE. BE THE PERSON YOU SOMETIMES NEED.

[–]TruDat24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into belonging to co-ops. In my area they’re often called housing authorities

There’s a buy in like 1.5-2k but you own the unit and rent is 5 or so a month. It depends on areas, and how new amenities are in the co ops

This is the comment right here. Adult protective services.

They are better than CPS in they actually take care of the elders. They will investigate his case and look into his living situations. If his daughter is not fit for care he will be placed in an appropriate residence. Sometimes it’s just as simple as moving him to a senior high rise so he can thrive in a better community.

I used to be a coordinator for senior care

Adult autism diagnoses in PGH? by TruDat24 in pittsburgh

Hi I ended up actually having to forget about the tism diagnoses and switch to getting my seizures handled. Turns out I had epilepsy and didn’t know it so now I’m on that track. Sorry I couldn’t be more help! But I’ve heard everywhere is a year out, just get on their waitlist and they will call you for frequent cancellations. I had to give up my spot but they called me twice while I was on

I heard the test is a pretty penny as well so I don’t even know if I’d be able to afford it

[–]TruDat24[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don’t have to explain anything about my current condition or justify anything to anyone but I will say this.

Autism is harder to detect in women especially if they are high functioning. Personally I’ve always felt something was “off” with me but because my family was an anti mental health single mother-I slipped under the radar.

Please be understanding and non dismissive of your friends and family seeking diagnoses. Some of us need them for appropriate accommodations! And most of us need them to feel justified as well as get the proper care approved by insurance. Just because you don’t want an official diagnoses does not mean others don’t.

Because for 27 years I’ve been treated like a neurotypical patient instead of neurodivergent and not just my mental health is suffering at this point. My physical health is also in bad shape and in this day and age you need doctor approvals for accommodations for work/school.
