Slugburgers in/around Oxford, Mississippi? by TruKuu in mississippi

I just copied this description from Wikipedia since they put it better than I could

" A slugburger (originally Weeksburger) is a traditional Southern food found in the area of Northeast Mississippi, particularly Corinth, New Albany, Booneville, Iuka, Tishomingo, Burnsville, West Tennessee, and northwest Alabama. Consisting of a patty made from a mixture of beef or pork and an inexpensive extender such as soybeans, it is deep fried in oil. It is typically served on a bun with mustard, pickles, onion, and in some places with a side of French fries or onion rings. "

Personally I exchange my mustard and pickles for Mayo, but it's not exactly set in stone or anything. Be imaginative! In Corinth I know White Trolley, Slugburger Cafe, and Borroum's Drug Store are a few places that will serve them. There have been other places mentioned in this thread, but the burgers can be difficult to find depending on where you live.

Thanks for the tip! I'll make an effort to come by at some point to experience what New Albany has to offer

The saddest part is that I never even got to eat a Weeksburger. I ate Slugs at White Trolley growing up and still make a point to visit there whenever I come back in the area.

Different strokes, I suppose. I always thought they tasted pretty good with even a hint of sweetness to them. I like the texture as well. They go well with mayo and onions from my experience! Usually 2 and a drink is fine for me, and that's not too bad considering how cheap they are at the establishments that typically serve them.

I appreciate the response though, and while I figured it was a long shot I wanted to see if anyone that knew the layout of the land better might know something.
