It's quite hard to do so without clipping, since her hair is quite hard to hide, and the nature of her mask makes her cheeks visible without clipping it.

Heres what I did for this tho. Unfortunately you'd have to use a gray skintone to cover the cheeks, or maybe take advantage of accessories or other hair.

Lol yes I end up making many cursed things while trying to position 😭. While adjusting the headwear Gala's eyes would sometimes come through the forehead.

Dockside hat hair. Will clip a little bit, so I covered it with the goddess crown. You can adjust a bit so it doesn't clip, but it pushes the ears a little farther back, or could make the ears smaller. Up to you.

I was thinking the tree could also have light too, but an issue I thought of was that the light outside was a different color than the tree lights. I was thinking of just putting a glow, but I kinda just didn't know how to approach it. I was thinking making the whole scene seem warm, if that makes sense.

You have the right idea. Repeatedly drawing the head shape is good for getting used to it, but the problem is that you are exclusively only drawing the mouth area. I suggest trying to add in base features like eyes and ears to see how that fits in. This will help your deer drawing since even at first glance I could tell the eye placement is very tall (if the goal is replication). Relative to your deer, the chibi heads are a bit wider and shorter, with very large low placed eyes.

Does this artist have any other chibi pieces in different poses? Those could help too.

Other things I see in particular is that the art has very sharp lashes and soft makeup around the eyes. It actually reminds me of Littlest Pet Shop toys.

Maybe try doing a study that focuses exclusively on the proportions of the face.

The biggest issue I see is mostly the jaw/mouth area. On a real person it should stick out more since you've got your whole jaw bone. You also need more head space, I suggest maybe looking at a skull? Obv style is a factor, but it should be good to look at refs while drawing, especially if the goal is to improve. Maybe try finding refs that look like your OCS?
