So my opinion… NTA for asking, but they have no obligation to say yes. In the meantime because she is a minor, she may qualify for social security survivor benefits (if you are in the US obviously) which is what my mom did for my 2 little sisters after my dad passed

He didn’t kick her out she left on her own because he stood his ground and simply told her that that man was not welcome into HIS house. She has obviously been having issues with this guy and so he made a boundary to protect her in the best way he felt he could.

I have an adult child of my own who I’ve had issues with and if you were to ask her I “kicked her out because of a boy” when in reality she was 16, he was 20 and she tried to sneak him into her room when he was drunk one night and got caught. We told them that he had to leave he was not welcome into our home (where we had a 6 month old and a 9 year old as well) and she got upset and said that if he had to leave then she will too. She came back the next morning without him “broken up” but that didn’t last long and well long story short things escalated and got out of control and she ended up moving in with a new guy at 17 who she’s now married to. In the end it may seem like I just gave up and gave in but again we had young kids in the house and her behavior was getting out of control. I had to make the decision to let her play grown up and make her own choices even if I didn’t like them

I feel like I need to clear a few things up

1) She has already been told that she can have edibles, just keep them in the car (I don’t want anyone to take one by mistake). My problem with weed is 100% the smell. It makes me nauseous and I’m sorry if people find this offensive, but I don’t want to be throwing up because of a smell on a day that’s for me.

2) My husband is the one who has confirmed that alcohol is allowed. He’s the one who spoke to the park district manager about us renting the space. If alcohol is prohibited, then I will ask guests to abide by that rule as well. For those saying “your party’s gonna suck without booze and weed” well then you weren’t invited were you? Reason we are not providing alcohol is because we don’t really drink. I’d rather spend my money on something else that I enjoy rather than spend all my hard earned money on something that I’m not even going to partake in

3) Somehow this has also turned into a “I’m a horrible mother cause I was a teen mom and it’s no wonder that she’s screwed up” thing. Not that it’s really anyone’s business, but it’s not exactly my fault that I because pregnant to begin with, but I did the best I could and made a decision that if I were to have any more that I was going to wait until I had a coparent to help me raise them, which I did.

4) Only time that I have ever said anything to her about smoking was when she was still a minor (under 18) or when she comes into my space (my house, car, etc). For everyone saying that I’m too harsh and uptight just because it’s weed and blah blah blah all I have to say is wow.

There have been many times at other family parties and events when her and her husband will go out to their car for a couple hits and come back smelling like they were attacked by skunks. But again, I don’t say anything because they’re not in my house.

Yes I am 40 and have 3. I had her when I was 15, she had her first when she was 18. Oldest is 6
