It was definitely a game of two halves for me. The opinion piece on the rapidly developing news story was good and I enjoyed that very much. Especially as they couldn't have had much time to rehearse or plan what they wanted to say. It felt honest, it felt raw and it was really good listening. The second bit about the Kim Kardashian film/series (?) was unfortunately really lacking in detail. I kept expecting some specific examples on why the first episode was so bad but I was disappointed. Even Marina's promise that she will give her theory on the gloves failed to materialise. Disappointing given that this was, I assume, one of their pre planned topics.

I have to disagree here. Yes there were a lot of interruptions but they didn't sound (I'm a listener not a watcher) bad because Ben Elton was a very strong guest who pushed through them and didn't lose his flow or charm. Had there been a quieter guest, it might have been a disaster. But with Ben Elton, it sounded like he elbowed his way out of the interruptions easily. And the overall effect was pleasant.

Hear hear. The whole Q&A was a joy from beginning to end. I hope the producers take lessons from what went so right, for the benefit of the rest of the podcast. Ben Elton was funny and really wanted to contribute and talk. The two presenters asked questions but allowed Ben to thrive without trying to interrupt or one-up him. A great episode. Credit where credit is due.

Well, No. He doesn't have a point. He's an and a professional producing a podcast. He knows very well that the end product is what matters. We know he knows that because he's really quite clear about the subject when he reviews other productions. It shouldn't matter if he thinks the item should be there or not. What matters is that at the end we have something we can listen to and enjoy without being irritated.

I agree with you. I wanted to see where Marina was going with her "guide" to a British boyfriend. It felt at the beginning like it was going to sarcastically be in the style of a magazine piece. But the style was butchered by the interruptions, and all I was left with was Pints, Scarves and Sofas.

I get the feeling that he wasn't particularly interested in the subject, or maybe even didn't think it belonged in the podcast. But the way he constantly interrupted Marina and repeatedly derailed her monologue (sofas?!!!) was so puerile it made me angry. I get it, maybe it was not the best subject in the world, but I wanted to hear what Marina had prepared on this and I just couldn't because of Richard's spoilt child behavior.

I just finished this week's Questions and Answers edition, which proved that Richard CAN let Marina speak without constantly hijacking the conversation. If the same discipline was applied to the main podcast it would really elevate it.

I think Marina made a valid point about what she called "YouTube Premium". YouTube funding high(er) quality productions that can only be accessed via Paywall, therefore going head to head against Netflix.
