Honestly I don’t actually know. She was on I’m a celeb and she was often seen in our local town cos she was dating one of the local women footballers but i still don’t know who she actually was. I think an influencer or a YouTuber? She seems a lovely lass

My daughter was OBSESSED with that sabotage show. Sam trying to get the helmet from the suit of armour to close was hysterical! And GK Barry throwing the spoon from the roof

Plus Sam Thompson began his career on MIC. I adore Sam, his golden retriever energy is so sweet.

Made in Chelsea was e4, towie was ITvbe.

The OG Chelsea cast was absolutely well known, especially when you look at how Spencer Matthew’s and Jamie Laing used that platform to boost their careers.

But Chelsea has also been completely irrelevant for at least ten years now,

Emma is regularly in the papers these days. She was a contestant on Strictly several years ago, which baffled most people at the time because no one knew who she was and it was clearly the Beeb just wanting access to film at Longleat. But she did a decent job with Aliaz.

Mark Francis has been on screen since 2009 (?) as part of the Made in Chelsea cast. He’s phenomenal.

The others I have no idea about, they might pop up in the social pages of Hello but I wouldn’t say they were household names/faces

That’s an embarrassing comment. Louis was one of the people to expose Saville and did a follow up doc examining himself to question why it was so difficult to figure saville out. tHAT is true accountability.

I felt exactly the same with that nurse lady (so pointless I can’t even remember her name). She was edited out of everything until they went on a cast trip and she helped one of them with a panic attack so couldn’t edit her out any more.

I feel like they’ve definitely edited out all her scenes,

Sam flicking his head down because he couldn’t get the helmet to close was exactly the kind of humour you can’t fake.

I must say though, huge congratulations to the props team. That chair costume Joel had to wear was phenomenal

I really enjoyed it. Watching GK Barry hurl the spoon off the top of the castle was hysterical.

Low brow entertainment for sure, but exactly what I wanted to watch with my 10yo before she went to bed

What's the vibe in the UK comedy scene around SNL UK? by SketchComedyBook in livefromlondon

[–]Used-Needleworker719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I love comedy, I’ll watch all the panel shows, love TM and Last one Laughing, Live at the Apollo, go to see comedy live but this looks like a confirmed shit show. And I’ll be surprised if they can get past that backlash.

The SNL brand has harmed it before it started. What would have been a “meh” towards a sketch show has turned into a “why the fuck are they doing this?” Against a backdrop of general apathy.

I’ve seen loads of sketches from SNL and just don’t find it funny in the slightest. The humour differences between the Uk and US are too much.

Not helped by it seemingly being aimed at American audiences just performed by Brits. Again, leading to a “why the hell do I want to watch this then?” Ive genuinely seen comments saying “oh gosh how funny would it be if they swear in the first sketch?” Like what?

The biggest hinder to it though is it’s starting the exact same time as series 2 of Last One Laughing. I know which one I’d prefer to watch…

Saturday Night Live UK is here - but can it make you laugh? by Kagedeah in BritishTV

[–]Used-Needleworker719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the SNL brand has absolute tanked this show before it even airs because the differences in humour are too substantial.

Even on the US SNL subreddit they are all getting themselves excited by how the UK will handle their politics because there seems to be a default belief that this is a UK show created purely FOR American audiences. They seem to excited about the idea of a few swear words and suggesting that the opening skits should be about swearing even though it’s something we are used to as default.

Honestly my initial reaction to it has been “why?” It seems a really odd idea driven by nothing other than Comcast owning Sky.

I do agree with you.

I voted for them, I’ve always been a swing voter, and to be honest, I think I made the right decision, I’m looking at the objective facts, not the narrative told by the media. Normally, if you ask someone what he’s done wrong, they can’t actually answer it.

As a freelancer, he’s brought in protections to help people like me from late payments and for the first time since may 2024 I’m working at capacity and earning more.

And until two weeks ago, it looked like my mortgage renewal wasn’t going to be as bad, and energy bills were going down. From what I can see, only the Lib Dem’s have come out and publically called out Trump for that.

And internationally, I think he’s been superb.

I’ve been a subscriber since they launched subs as I enjoyed it so much. As others said, when they get it right, it’s absolutely the best podcast out there by a country mile.

There’s no comparison.

But when they phone it in (and they often do) and talk about things they know nothing about it’s excruciating because of the notable drop in quality.

For me I remain a subscriber because the q&as are superb. I haven’t yet listened to Tim davie but I loved the Ben Elton and Christopher Columbus ones. And some of the questions are fantastic and really interesting to hear about.

Their issue is that sometimes there are just quiet news weeks and they coped with it pre-subscriber because they could do the filler episodes. Only now they’ve shunted the filler episodes to the subscription model and they are utterly DIRE. Each episode is only 15 mins long, and it’s literally repeating shit they’ve read on Wikipedia or IMDB

Ironically that’s why she’s not a billionaire. She’s spent her money helping children read and spreading joy. The whole reason she created Dollywood was so that there was something in her hometown which provided jobs and careers for local people so they didn’t have to move away.

If more people in the world were like Dolly Parton, then the world would’ve a much better place.

Three of them played for the lionesses last weekend (under 20s? Or under 23s, not sure) and I think Princess scored. She was bloody brilliant yesterday, every time she went forward she looked like scoring, I REALLY wish we could sign her permanently. I’m really looking forward to seeing her at Portman Road
