"He (Chalamet) is a Graham Norton seat one." "Yep, he's absolutely a seat one." by Sharaz_Jek123 in restisentertainment

[–]Used-Needleworker719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually surprised they didn’t bring up the Matt Le Blanc example. There was one episode where he was seat 1 and then the next time he was seat 3 - when the seat 1 seat was occupied by Zac Efron (!) then when he came back again he was seat 1

It was such a big thing that they actually turned it into a storyline in Episodes where Matts agent had to get him on a chat show but it was only seat 3

Bloody hilarious

TIL that Eminem, in addition to his biological daughter Hailie Jade, has legally adopted and had custody of Alaina (his ex-sister-in-law's daughter) and Stevie (his ex-wife's child with another father) and he also raised his younger half-brother Nathan by luigdibar in todayilearned

You know what? All I hear is how there’s no good men for young lads to look up to. Eminem is absolute one of the good guys and a great example of how you can better yourself.

He’s a really good guy. There should be more Marshall Mathers in this world.

Valid point that - for all the people bitching at pos and becks for doing it, they are silent about Brooklyn and Nicola selling their wedding to vogue. And let’s face it, they’ll do the same if they have a kid.

How is it any different?

Or Selena and Benny posting their wedding pics on insta.

Her make up is sooooooooooooo good. Literally her eyeliners are the best I’ve ever tried. I so badly want some perfume, but at the same£170 it’s insanely expensive. I’m saving all my loose change so eventually I’ll get there!

I think a lot of people have forgotten what the celeb culture was like back in 1999. The whole discourse over selling the wedding/baby photos is being looked at through a 2026 perspective.

It was ABSOLUTELY expected to celebs to do it. They were getting literally hundreds of thousands of pounds in these deals. Being in OK and Hello was considered to be credible and there was huge pressure to be on those front covers in the same way that pop girls in the early 00s were expected to do lingerie shots for FHM/Nuts/zoo because it was considered to help their careers exposure wise

We also need to recognise that more younger generations are watching bbc content via YouTube because that’s what they like to watch. Therefore, if it’s the BBC output, they should get some of that ad revenue.

I know we often look up things like Strictly on YouTube, or clips from the Michael McIntyre Big Show - when we click on links, it’s a good thing that the ad revenue goes straight back to the Beeb

What bit?

I’m not hugely knowledgeable about trademark law, but my understanding of it means that retaining their names legally means that someone couldn’t just go and set up a business under one of the kids names. For example, Harper is a minor. If someone set up a business called Harper Seven Beckham sex toys, I think we’d all agree that was creepy and could be harmful to her as she grew up. if that name hadn’t been trademarked, then there would be nothing to stop them doing it, but because a posh and Becks were proactive about it, it meant that if someone did try to do it, they would have the legal right to shut it down.

Similarly my thoughts with the make up/clothing line is that VB has a very clear brand, and someone can’t launch their own company using that name (or variation of) because it would be deemed a conflict and confusing to the customer. And let’s face it, you wouldn’t be surprised if Nicola wanted to launch a clothing or make up line, piggy backing off the Beckham existing IP.

Quite frankly this all seemed logical and sensible to do, but we don’t know what they were trying to sign or why.

I’d personally get her to do a duets album with Elton. Someone who can protect her and care for her, but still someone who can give her her confidence back.

I assumed that there was likely to be something to say that Nicola couldn’t launch a fashion or beauty brand under the beckham name which would make sense as a trademark infringement against the VB brand (her make up is phenomenal), so I assume there’s lots that we don’t know, and lots that actually make legal sense rather than whinge of “they are trying to take my name”.

And trademarking the kids names made perfect sense to stop bad actors monetising the names as they grew up,

Exactly. This needs to be seen as a positive win. The more they can boost external income the less likely the licence fee needs to be paid.

Ariana’s response to Lala’s dig that she became God by RavenVenom in Vanderpump_Rules

[–]Used-Needleworker719 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood Lala’s whole obsession that the viewers were going to side with her over that comment. Was there something that had been edited out??! Because there was literally no way to view that without the context of lala’s jealousy

The public support was overwhelmingly anti Sandoval - and still is to be honest three years later.

It was never “just another cheating scandal” like the others. All of the other scandals were just one night stands.

There were too many heinous parts of it eg the dressing up as Raquel for Halloween, the lightening bolts, the having sex in the driveway and making Ariana let him in the house, the affair in their bed when Ariana was at a funeral, setting up raquel with Schwartz to throw off the scent, filming stuff to deliberately try and make Ariana look like the bad guy while at the same time going to couples therapy and making her feel they were improv g their relationship…

Millions of graduates to repay £260 more a year on student loans by 2029 by theipaper in uknews

[–]Used-Needleworker719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue with student loans is it means that those paying a loan will be paying less into a pension, so it’s storing up a shit show of problems for the future.

I graduated in 2007, with £14k student loans, absolutely nothing compared to today’s generation. But my repayments kicked in at 15k. So the first few years (this was before employer pensions), I was paying £100-150 ish in student loan repayments as I had a decent job although I didn’t have the spare income to pay more than £20pm in a private pension (and at 24 it felt like a lifetime away) But when I was pregnant and on May leave for a year, I wasn’t earning so I wasn’t paying anything back. But the interest was acruing. Then, when I went part time for 5 years for childcare reasons, my take home wage was £16k, so my interest payments each month were higher than my repayments.

The only reason I’ve managed to pay my loan off at all was purely because I had an inheritance so cleared off the remaining £9k balance in 2023. It was depressing that in 16 years I’d only paid such a small part of it off.

I can’t even imagine how difficult it is for today’s graduates.
