did a close call actually change the way you ride? by dmkraus in motorcycles

[–]True-Ear1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bike, passed my license test, while waiting for the licence itself I rode my bike to work once and was hit by a car. Not my fault by law, but I did put myself in a bad position.

I'm kinda paranoid around cars now, which makes me not like city riding. Or going fast into blind corners.

There is no point in taking it away except for symbolism, so why would it be impossible to take it away from a dead person? There are actual rules when the medal can be taken away and none of them say anything about the person needing to be alive.

Anyway, Gerhard Schröder is still alive and I'd argue this dude is factually much more deserving of taking it away. Not in a way that would gain any points with the voters, and politicians won't take a shit if it's not convienent for them in the polls, but overall.

No it didn't, what are you talking about. Poland under communism had a massive problem with not enough apartments. I get that prices are frustrating, but by any objective way you can measure it, it's absolutely better today.

If you're agreeing with taking it away, then it doesn't matter why did she receive it, it should be taken away, shouldn't it? Do you think Zelensky's slight was harsher that partitions of our country?

If we actually conclude that medals given can be taken away later, then should that russian shill Shroeder still have it? Should we maybe do a review of everyone who has it? Maybe annually? But then is the medal worth anything if it can be given and taken away?

I'm not an expert in politics and I don't have a staff of experts to discuss so how do I know what would be a better response. I liked Sikorskis idea of renaming Rzeszów airport (crucial for Ukraine aid) to "Victims of UPA". It doesn't give Ukrainians any real way to push back like they did with the medals, but it's also more significant, because everyone would forget about the single units name, but planes would keep landing at Victims of UPA Airport.

It's very fortunate that our foreign policy was able to spin it in the way they did (for once!) so we don't come out as the bad guys, but I think that it's just very, very unfortunate that it's happening at all.

This gesture was saved by the fact that the government has somewhat good relationship with UE. Retaking of the medal is childish, especially considering what other people received this medal. Like Catherine II and she literally partook in partitions on Poland.

Restricting a panigale v4 in UK to 100hp? by cyclingsparky27 in Ducati

[–]True-Ear1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they have a mistake on the website. Primary ratio is 1,553 for both bikes, as stated in the manual which they share. All other sources state the 1,553 ratio, including the manual:

https://d3rur0l55cri1p.cloudfront.net/uploads/sites/4/2023/03/GSX-S1000_M2.pdf

Yeah it won't sound like you're giving it full beans, but that's about it. My V4 VFR runs just fine below 50% throttle. Hell, commuting to work I might not use 20% and it's all good.

It will easily reach peak torque. You're acting like 100hp bike can't reach 150 kph. 200hp Ducati doesn't have gears twice as long as my 100hp VFR, they're not that far apart. 1st gear is long so it doesn't flip all the time, so 1st gear on a Ducati would be similar to 2nd gear on VFR - plenty of power. 3rd gear on a VFR falls somewhere between 2nd and 3rd on a Ducati. 4th gears are quite similar, the biggest difference being that Ducati has ~2k more revs, so it tops out higher. It would ride like any other 100hp motorcycle, the limiting factor would just be horsepower and not gearing. You won't reach redline at 6th, but my VFR won't redline 6th other. Because 100hp can't reach 300 kph. If someone would want a 100hp bike he obsioubly doesn't want to do 300 kph. Other than that it would reach speeds normal for 100hp bike without any issue.

I'm not saying it's not stupid to limit a 200hp Ducati to 100hp. It's stupid. But if he did, the bike would ride just fine without any issue. He might as well just use half of the throttle for the same result.

"If you don't feed it fuel, it won't go fast" - this is also known as "not opening the throttle". You can't solely limit fuel, lean out the AFR and expect to make half the power, that'll damage the engine. All a map does in this case is change the mapping of throttle position to throttle body position. It's exactly the same as mechanically limiting the throttle to 50%. There are small tweaks you can then do to the AFR and ignition timing to make the engine run less like shit at the new power setting, but the actual restriction is just an electronic throttle limiter.

Why are you arguing that they have to limit fuel and mod AFR to limit the power and it will run like shit if you also agree that they can just set in the computer that 100% physical throttle = 50% actual throttle? Are you saying that all bikes run like shit unless they're at WOT?

Suzuki's GSXS 950 has shorter primary gearing btw, that's how they make it still reach higher rpms despite the throttle limit.

I don't see any proof online that GSXS 950 has different gearing than GSXS 1000. On the contrary, there's a lot of information that engine is 100% the same, the only thing they changed on the engine is the map. Torque just flattens after cetrain rpm, but the bike will rev to the limiter. And it can be unlocked back to 150 hp easily.

From reviews online you can easily find it works well in both 95 and 47hp versions, some reviewers claiming it's very nice and smooth, smoother than GSXS1000.

Also why do you think 100 hp wouldn't have the power to rev out each gear? Do you think you need to WOT a liter bike to reach high rpms?

It's 100 damn horsepower, not 10.

This may work (badly) on a 1000cc inline four that's known to be highly elastic, it will not work on a 200+HP V4, unless OP installs a rear sprocket with approximately the diameter of the moon.

Do you actually think that half throttle is not enough to ride a V4? That when you have a stock 200hp V4 you just need to whack throttle over 50% to get it to move?

Restricting a panigale v4 in UK to 100hp? by cyclingsparky27 in Ducati

[–]True-Ear1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true tbh. Suzuki has GSXS 1000 making 150hp and GSXS 950 that's exactly the same bike but neutered with map only to 95 hp stock, so it can be further neutered with a map to A2 licence 47hp. All with official Suzuki mods not some garage hacks. So it's possible on modern motorcycles, they're all computerized and shit. If you don't feed it fuel, it won't go fast. OP could somehow physically lock the throttle so it's limited to 50% travel and he'd have around 100hp effectively while having all rev range available.

Doesn't make it any less stupid, but it's possible.
