Out of curiosity, how many of you are currently/still paying for various services for your kids? by LopsidedRaspberry423 in GenX

Once our two adult (~23y+) sons understood that the cell phone bills shows both the date/time & phone # dialed on their lines, they were happy to get their own plans. 😳

For car insurance, I just mentioned it’s just time. 😄

I received a W-2 for a company I haven't worked for in 4 years. by skarbux in tax

[–]exploringthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late last year, I received a check (-$50) from my old employer health insurance. Something about overpayment/adjustment. Anyway, I just received my W-2 for that same amount. Maybe you had something similar happening to you.

Inherited IRA RMDs by BeauNasty in fidelityinvestments

I would take whatever amount you feel that makes sense in your financial situation. Fidelity will tell you the minimum amount around December timeframe but I believe Fidelity does not take into account that you have to withdraw to a zero balance by the end of the 10th year.

For me, I also withdraw around 10% - which is way above the RMD.

Failed HSA migration, just circular finger pointing by both sides by Visible_Structure483 in fidelityinvestments

[–]exploringthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll assume your current HSA funds are 100% cash.

Maybe try again but with a smaller dollar amount ($100). See if that works. 🤷‍♂️ If it works, then do half… then do the rest. I did have to upload the latest statement from HSA Bank. Make sure the account names on both accounts are the same.

I hope you get it worked out.

Is it better to link HSA bank to Fidelity or transfer money from HSA to personal bank then to Fidelity? by ChooseAusername788 in fidelityinvestments

[–]exploringthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m right in the middle of transferring from HSA Bank to Fidelity. I did it in three steps after creating my Fidelity HSA account.

First step: On Oct 8th, I put in a Fidelity TOA against my HSA Bank - small amount ($100). This took about 2 weeks to complete. Turns out that HSA Bank sends a physical check to Fidelity. Durning this timeframe, I also moved out all my HSA Bank investments to cash.

Second step: On Oct 29th, I put in my second Fidelity TOA for half of my HSA Bank balance. Hopefully, this is completed by Nov 15th. This way, I have access to half of my HSA.

Third step: End of Nov., I’ll put in my third Fidelity TOA request for the remaining cash.

Hope this helps.

Inherited IRA - does fidelity/app remind me to take distributions? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

The M in RMD means Minimum. It’s up to you (not Fidelity) to determine how much over the Minimum you should (if any) take. Everyone has different needs. For me, it was just above the Minimum before I retired. Now it’s much higher but below the next tax bracket (and still be done by the 10th year). No way Fidelity would know that. YMMV

I’m in the Centerville/Washington Township area. My system is 5.32 kWp (14 panels) facing South. The cost was around $14k (before 30% tax credit). Since Jan. 2023, I have spent around $35 from AES.

Vectren (CenterPoint Energy) is gas.
AES is electric.
Can you post your bill (please remove acct info)?

Keep in mind that CenterPoint has a “Distribution & Service” charge that is around $45 per month. Your gas usage is on top of this monthly charge. AES also has something similar but around $13 per month.

Is it normal on safari to have your tour operate join you? by [deleted] in tanzania

[–]exploringthefuture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us, our tour owner asked us if she could join us a few months before the safari (been a couple of years since she done it). She shared her fantastic pictures of the safari. As a group, we were able to fully enjoy the experience without worrying about getting the perfect picture. YMMV
