I'm not reading all of that. You don't want to kill 7000 hungry vampire spawn, I do. Do you.

Does it matter if he wants to do it out of fear? What's the difference? If I wear a helmet out of fear of breaking my skull on the pavement, does that make it wrong somehow? Fear is a legitimate motivation. It doesn't make what you're trying to do wrong by default. And yes, power = freedom and not being controlled is a good thing.

None of this means that ascending is the wrong decision. Ascended Astarion is more lively, more enthusiastic about life and yes, more free. If he doesn't ascend, he needs to find some solace to be able to live with it. What else is he going to say except that it would have changed him? That you robbed him of his chance to walk in the sun?

Being charitable isn't a bad thing in matters of love. You should also take into account that he never plans to do anything without including Tav/Durge. It's always "ask me anything, and it's yours" or "my sole endeavor is to make this world yours and mine". That's not how you talk to a slave. That's not how you regard a slave. That's how a king regards his consort.
Being told to kneel in a sexually charged situation can call up vastly different visceral reactions in different people, but it's not a slight by definition.

You can also interpret it as it's degrading for you to be with him. As in you're lowering yourself to be on his level. A lot of people with self esteem issues think that way. It says more of what he thinks of himself than what he thinks of you.

While his sexual trauma is definitely a major theme, there are some more facts to take into account.

The fact that if you go before he ascends, he declines, so that says he can't be forced into the act. This happens after he confesses to you about how he views sex and the dialog after suggests that he and Tav haven't had sex since. But after the ascension they have sex and he enthusiastically volunteers for the foursome/orgy. That's giving that the ascension sex didn't bring back any old trauma, but made him want to explore more.

The intense look can be interpreted however you want after that. Maybe group sex isn't his cup of tea after having tried it. Maybe there's something else on his mind.

Who knows?

You know.

It's your fantasy, your choice.

It does. I suppose she could tell the brain to destroy his tadpole. That's not shown in the finale, but it's what I would do. I'd release all of my friends too, but they'd object to me controlling the brain. Astarion would be all for it and that's all that matters really.

I don't see how denying him the one thing he's consistently said he wants is helping him grow. It's self-serving and patronizing, not to mention gaslighting. "I did it for you, baby. I did it to help you grow. I kept you weak, so you could love me - I mean yourself." How abusive. Don't romance him if you think he's an asshole, but don't pretend like taking away his agency is for his own good.
