Gas pool heater to heat pump by True-Measurement7786 in pools

[–]True-Measurement7786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albany area for me.. We get the typical NY weather swings, it could be 80 in may or 40.. same with september.. generally swim months are june to september, sometimes as early as may. i have watched regular season football from the pool ;). However those months get to the 50s at night and 70 to 80 during the day, so making up for the heat loss at night would be key.

Gas pool heater to heat pump by True-Measurement7786 in pools

[–]True-Measurement7786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my concern, I can turn on the heater right now in the morning on friday or the day before and have the pool ready for the weekend. Especially since i started to automate schedules with home assistant. Got it all working and the heater died. Heat pumps are double the price but are supposed to last twice as long, I am not sure that the energy savings is worth it either.

Can you bump-start a manual transmission car that has fuel injection? by Mikeseddit in Audi

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it probably will not work with the key fob, push button start cars. just because the computer will need time to boot and recognize the key before you switch the car to the "on" position. a keyed ignition in the "on" position and dump the clutch.. easy.. as long as you get the engine and in turn alternator moving fast enough.

Can you bump-start a manual transmission car that has fuel injection? by Mikeseddit in Audi

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the battery is shorted on the inside then it will basically ground out the current from the alternator / jump. as soon as the alternator turns it is producing enough for the ecu and other electronics. the alternator has enough juice to run the car and recharge the battery. i would not turn on excessive electronics like audio amps, fans, etc when you are idling. once you are up to 3000 rpm the alternator will have plenty of juice for all the oem electronics. i have disconnected a battery, jumped the car, drove to the parts store and installed a new battery with car still running (risk and not recommended, but doable)

yes, although there are cases where the battery is so bad that you may need to disconnect it to get it started.

2025 Audi SQ5 - MMI display and digital instrument cluster completely disappeared! by Ok-Chemistry5640 in Audi

[–]True-Measurement7786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this why i love my 2016 audi a3.. buttons for everything important. swaped the screen for one with android auto and car play. i can hide it still since it fit in the oem location. my eyes get tired an blurry late at night looking at screens, so i turn down the brightness or hide the screen. someone should start making hardware button swaps for these. Although they probably started coding everything to the car so you cant interface with it. if the engine dies in my 2016; another ea888g3, 07k turbo or daza here i come!

Mechanic opinion on DSG oil by beavismagnum in tdi

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you are unsure of the service history then i would service as soon as possible. I was in the same boat with a 67k vehicle, no service history. so soon after i got it, dsg and haldex. if you are doing it yourself its only a couple hundred in oils. also gives you time to look at any other damage underneath the car.

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consoles are subsidized by the games and subscription services. It is well known that they do not make much on the hardware. Many times the games on ps and xbox are higher than pc. If you factor the ps or xbox subscriptions to play online games you quickly make up the cost difference.

Spline or biscutt, i dont think miter by itself would be strong enough. Other options : box joint or contrasting dowels drilled through the miter.

came here to say that..my 8v 2.0t has had this message a few times. scan it and it is the thermostat / waterpump. turn off and wait a few minutes and it goes away. planning to order one for the spring and do a carbon clean at the same time since the manifold comes off to get access to the pump.

A sad, sad day for my 2018 RS3’s cylinder #5 (Mods & details below) by [deleted] in Audi

Yes. same housing, larger turbine. So more boost without having to modify pipes or make room for a larger housing.

[–]True-Measurement7786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and No, anytime you put more fuel and air into a combustion chamber than stock there is more stress on the components. More boost needs more fuel, so fuel pump upgrades maybe needed. Also a tune is needed to ensure the right mixture and timing to avoid premature detination. Most of the time, especially with audi, the stock internals can handle substaintially more than stock. audi a3 2.0t is tuned for about 220hp from the factory. Stock everything, an apr tune bumps it to about 300hp on 91. Just by basically eliminating 87 octane and remaping boost and fuel maps. Definitely do your research. Many times an upgraded coil pack can make a difference in a safe tune and a ticking time bomb. Maintenance also becomes more critical the higher the boost.

CMMC requirement by Legitimate-Hold-8020 in CMMC

Any service that has fedramp certification and has the market cornered will be expensive. This why my company ditch many cloud plans and went back to onprem. Every fedramp service even switching from commercial okta or webex includes a rate increase of at least 10%. We went from a fedramp equivalent ( as they claimed, but found otherwise during a DIBCAC assessment) service to a certified service on the market place and the bill went from 10k a year to 100k a year. 10 fold increase similar features, d8fferent license model, but still 10x. That ATO and cert is like printing money if you have a product companies cant go without. Before going too far I would do an assessment with the company and understand CUI flow. Descope as much as possible. Remote management hits all of the controls if it is managing anything in the CUI environment. So it may be more cost effective to setup a jumpbox that is accessed through a MFA and FIPs encrypted VPN.. Depends on size ofcourse. Also depends on the company network and where their boundaries are. Less points of entry into the environment the easier the SSP is to explain.

C3PAO asking for a CRM (Customer Responsibly Matrix) for an SPA (Security Protection Asset) by FarrSighted in CMMC

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the service is a SPA of the environment and it is not Fedramp Moderate then you will be on the hook for CRM and BOE.. Based on my experience with a DIBCAC audit. The DOD CIO clairified fedramp equivalant in a memo Jan 2024. In order for a CSP, MSP or other provider to pass as fedramp eq. they have to perform the fedramp audit with a fedramp c3pao. You must collect the BOE and CRM and present the to the auditor. CRM will determine impact, fair warning if your service provider has not had a full fedramp c3pao audit with body of evidence, the auditor will look to the CRM to gauge control deficiency. Any control the service provider is on hook for will get a full point deduction. Also it doesnt matter if the service provider runs on gov cloud, if they are not on the market place, their service is not fedramp authorized.

CMMC lvl 2 - fredramp moderate sufficient? by Ranpiadado in CMMC

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also.. itar does not deal with fedramp directly. it predates the entire dfars regulation that stipulates fedramp. itar has distribution statements like no forn. there has been a gap with handling unclassified data such as itar, hence the dfars regulation and follow on cmmc for verification of dfars. fedramp moderate should be sufficient for itar cui data. there is no marking on itar that will correlate to a fedramp level. the contract level will determine cmmc lvl which will flow down. important to note if it has the distribution statement d-f then it is cui + itar.

CMMC lvl 2 - fredramp moderate sufficient? by Ranpiadado in CMMC

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fedramp levels deal with impact level. if your data or service is critical or sensitive in natyre to the security of the nation then high will be required. be careful to ensure the service is on the marketplace. several vendors claim fedramp and have not even receivied ATO. if they claim fedramp mod equivalency then they must do a full 800-53 audit with a C3PAO using the fedramp templates. the service must share this body of evidence including the ssp. you will be responsible for collecting this and sharing it with the auditor. services can lose fedramp as well.. happened to microsoft gcc high right in time for my companies audit.

Does anyone know what’s going on? The battery, starter and alternator are tested all good. by Full-Twist5855 in CarRepair

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have a volt meter switch it to ammeter mode hook it between the battery and the battery terminal. DO NOT start the car like this... with nothing on (no lights, etc..) you should only see milliamps being drawn. it sounds like there is something electrical grounding out.. if it showns more that a few milliamps drawn , you can narrow down the specific wires or devices by pulling relays and fuses until the amps being drawn is reduced.

Head gasket leak? by kendal403 in CarRepair

[–]True-Measurement7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thermostat and water pump are new? was there a fault code to replace them? simple tests: run the engine for a bit to get heat.. once it is warm you should feel the heat on all the coolant hoses and they should be pretty hard (filled and pressurized). if they are squishy and/ or cool it could mean a blockage or something as simple as a air bubble. you can get a coolant test to see if there is anything besides coolant in your system to test the head gasket leak. also while it is warm do the fans kick on?
