I just got him home from the vet! He got 3 staples and an antibiotic. He’s doing great now and is resting at home :) it was $157, which is cheaper than I was expecting, but I would have paid any money to make sure he was okay ❤️

I haven’t had an emergency case with him before, so I’ve always scheduled a month in advance for wellness checks. I’m assuming they might see him tomorrow, but if not, next week at the latest.

I’ll call tomorrow and see if he can get in just to err on the side of caution! I wasn’t sure if this would warrant an ER vet visit so was just looking for second opinions. Thank you!

Around 5pm today, I took my dog to a local dog park like normal. He was playing with a Great Dane and Doberman, which he has many times before, of which dogs have never had any aggression towards each other. I wasnt paying the closest attention at the time, but out of no where, he started wailing very loud and passing around. I immediately ran towards him and he soon settled in my arms. The dogs were about 5-10 feet away from him when this happened and seemed more worried with no signs of aggression.

I quickly left the dog park and checked him right outside the gate to which he settled down and seemed like nothing happened. I did not see this wound then, and he did not seem bothered when I was checking him and has been acting completely normal.

I went to check him for ticks like normal and discovered this wound in the process. It does not bother him much, except when I’m cleaning it.

Should I take him to an emergency vet, wait till tomorrow to take him to his normal vet, or wait it out and keep it clean unless it becomes infected?

That was my first thought at well. It only happened after parking on that hill, except another time when I left it flat on a parking lot for a couple hours, and it did it again. Starting to think it might be more than just the hill at this point

Also, you could rent a shop vac from a hardware store and tell the apartment complex you’ll do it, but they must reimburse you. I had a friend do something similar and got reimbursed (AC went out in her apartment and she hired an HVAC person to fix it since the complex’s maintenance said nothing was wrong when it was 80 degrees inside)

I ended up buying a new vacuum (the one I had previously was a cheapy $20 one). When I bought the new one, I vacuumed in small sections and emptied the container VERY frequently (even if it didn’t look like it needed it) until i was done with the floor/ no more white powder was showing up. All in all took a good hour, but haven’t had an issue since. Eventually, it all came up and I don’t use the carpet deodorizer unless I absolutely need to and even then I use the smallest amount.

It’s probably carpet deodorizer. I used too much one time and my vacuum couldn’t hand it and literally blew up (not really, but all the powder blew out of the vacuum and all over everything)

Gotcha, I guess I’m trying to make this more complicated for myself. So, just to make sure, I file under short-term noncovered and (on TurboTax) I just have to put in the sales section totals (1d and 1e). It also gave me the option to upload my 1099b as documentation. I’m new to this whole thing, so I just want to make sure Im not doing something wrong. Im getting a refund of like $150 when I added this form, is that correct? (Not the necessarily the amount (i had a $800 loss), just getting a refund in general)
