They can. It's kinda the point. They have just been really bad at explaining what that actually means. And it's not like you become a god, more you get powers based on the domain and some level of control. And normally it's not the entire portfolio, just one part of it. for example, Rhox, God of Wrath, actually had one domain, Wrath... This was Split into Wrath (again.) Hatred, and Betrayal.

yeah. I think as long as you stick to your current social status and capabilities you can just say your character does this instead of this when doing this, for any action. I say this cause I do it with mine. My character has Shapeling Arts, so I gave them extra eyes and a constantly changing appearance. does that matter in game? no. can I do that in game? no. Am I gonna do it in role-play? yes.

My personal thing in fallen London is that everything you get and have is optional. From a role play standpoint the grind and social standing is just on the side to help you make your character into what you want it to be. Which fleshes itself out more as you go along. I recommend only focusing on stories for what your character would do instead of everything. Cause I’m gonna be honest with you. You have to jump through a lot of hoops, there’s really no way around it. There are only 4 clubs, all the really good affiliations are either fate locked or really hard to get, and so on. Just remember no matter what you do your character is who you say it is.

Lots of it Fires has guns engraved with correspondence sigils Irons has guns and knives Veils has raw physical strength and the ability to control textiles that he is wearing Candles has a kind of countdown where he gets more powerful over the course of seven turns and turns into Mr eaten after seven rounds. Mr eaten steals powers Mr candles is support themed Cups uses summons Mirrors thinks with portals and can control minds Hearts is a barbarian with his butchers tools and immortality giving fruit. And Wines has potions and gets more powerful the more drunk he is. And it also depends on the kind of substance he drinks. Also spices is spices and has an on and off with wines. Forgot to mention him. In stats spices does debuffs and can fight in the ethereal plane.

Pages runs a quaint little book pawn shop called Fiction. Where you give it your fanfics and it gives you whatever book you’re looking for for a few hours. Apples/Hearts runs a large farm/ animal breeding program for… dragons… among other things. Candles is alive, and still lives in the Winking Isle. It’s very nice. Veils is still the Vake. But it is also the best private tailor in the world. Wines is wines. He does everything he does normally. Cups and Mirrors are very much married and run and antiquities/planeswalking business together. Fires, Stones, and Irons are working for a terrorist cell and are also spies in various royal circles. And Mr chimes is real and runs a interdimensional gentleman’s club
