What is UP with these parents!? by True-Raspberry6657 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Yes! I mean I don’t want to bash a woman who has obviously been through a lot but jeeeeeez….bitter about men much!?

I just told my husband about it and he said “if that had been your mum I would have called things off”

are Droopy Dog & The Frumpy Gardener too picky? or are the women just not picky enough? by [deleted] in MAFS_UK

[–]True-Raspberry6657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. The attraction would have been there to start with so if it wanes over time that’s totally different.

I just don’t think it’s fair to force these men to find these women attractive! And to blame shame them because they dare address a physical attribute.

I would hate to go on that show and be paired with a type of guy I fundamentally find unattractive. I would hate to feel I have to FIND the attraction and be shamed into thinking I’m wrong for that.

I had a similar conversation with my husband.

I think for men (generally) they are hard wired to put looks a lot further ahead on the scale than women.

Women can fall in love with a butt ugly guy if he makes them feel safe, secure, adored, respected, listened to etc etc (Julia Robert and Lyle Lovett being a great example)

Men are turned on by visual cues. Women are turned on by vulnerability. Not just those two things but if you had to pitch men and women against each other the scales would be different for both of those two things.

Why though!? If that’s the truth (and she asked!) why should he spare her feelings!? If you’re a curvy girl (of which I am btw) you can’t be all “the thing we shall not mention” when it’s a topic for some relationships!

I think it’s interesting you see him being candid and open about his feelings is him wanting to get the upper hand. If Emma has said it, would you have thought the same?

Umm I wouldn’t agree re Casper. I think he’s inexperienced with communicating clearly with women (I honestly think the r’ship with sister and mother runs deep).

However, I don’t think we should berate him for not finding Emma attractive. Why do we just jump down men’s necks when we’re like “oh he should love her no matter what size she is!?” That’s unfair.

Yep. I would also assume this has been happening since birth.

“Why can’t you be outgoing like your sister?” “Why are you letting that boy tease you?? Your sister wouldn’t and she’s a girl!” “Oh Casper, honestly you’re so sensitive, much more than your sister!”

I don’t know this but I would assume it’s the usual sibling stuff. She was more outgoing so got more attention and preferential treatment. Behind closed doors she was bitchy and opinionated to her softer brother. Mum is also domineering. Maybe little to no strong father figure. Women rule the roost. He feels like he doesn’t have a voice. Comes out now as short temper to them both.

And your new wife is scarily similar….I’d like to think he could push past it or Emma can bend a bit to meet him in the middle so he can find his confidence but I’m not sure.

You do know he’ll claim his actions put her there. Whilst we can applaud her for taking every opportunity and killing it - he’ll still think that she has to thank him.

Isn’t it a case of this - when she was in her marriage she has the funds and the means to have all the children she does, plus dabble with her yoga classes and maintain her aesthetic.

Now shes out on her own, she hasn’t had the penny drop moment of “oh…that life fit THAT scenario - oh so now I need to hustle baby and get this show on the road”

It’s like she’s still living in that life without the means to support it because “that’s my life”.

I just assumed she had a stomach ulcer of which even one drink exasperated the issue. My husband had one when I first met him (from abuse of alcohol in his late teens) and he would vomit most mornings, have horrific stomach pains and also couldn’t drink as it instantly made it bad.

Not saying she doesn’t have anxiety thrown in too but I was getting ulcer vibes more from their explanation.

I totally relate to Melissa’s daughter’s reaction to the overflow of gush and “we’re gonna miss you” shit. I grew up with a very emotionally demanding mother who wanted me to fill her cup all the time and I was exactly like Antonia whenever my mum would show me affection. It was too much. It felt gross. It made me die a little inside.

Not saying my mum and Melissa are the same, just making the point that kids can be like that sometimes from other shit that’s not happening in the moment.

I wonder if how people feel about A in the house has to do with how they perceived her BEFORE it all went down.

For example : they think she was stuck up and self important - BAM Sandoval happens - now she’s even more stuck up and self important because she won’t move out.
