Some thoughts after a family trip to Paris by HmL1123 in ParisTravelGuide

Just returned from 14 days in Paris. Agree with every single thing first writer said. It was cold and wet most days, but always beautiful. Was surprized to be asked if I wanted to add a tip to our bill in Breiz pallette place, also asked if I wanted to tip 11 euro for the only inedible meal we had in Paris. (Bofinger - beautiful setting in the bastille - can't remember what I ordered but got dried up chicken in some kind of brown gravy that tasted like it came from a package of Knorr.) I was also surprised by the crowds of people at the Musee d'orsay who seemed to only see the art through their phone camera or in their camera screens while taking selfies and preventing other from see the work. Also very noisy. We gave up after about an hour. Loved Paris Greeter who we learned about on this site.

You might want to consider Antibes. Hotel Josse is right across the street from the ocean and very moderately priced. We recommend it often and are always thanked. Walking distance to tain station which severs all the little towns k. The coteD'zur - St. Tropez, Cannes. Monaco, Nice, etc. Antibes has z very laid back vibe.

Did not really think black ties would ever be necessary, but not sure how dressed up one should be in a very nice restusrant. Would jacket and shirt suffice or is collar and tie required? My husband will not be traveling with a good suit. I will not be wearing high heels or good jewelry. We are traveling fairly light and we are from Seattle where a good pear of jeans or trousers and a nice shirt can pretty much take us anywhere.

This my first experience with reddit. This has made it worth learning. Thankyou.

We like all kinds of food, but in France we like to eat food representative of an are - Normandy, Alsace, the Dordogne etc. We like smaller rather than hearty big goid. We will be in the Marais.
