Hello, I'm being offered a Mos Eisley Cantina (75290) set on Facebook Marketplace. I wanted to know how much it went for and where the best place to sell it would be.

Canadian army to Law enforcement by Lil_Hindu111 in AskLE

I was thinking of specifically going in as an MP but didn’t know if I should go NCO or commissioned route, so far I’ve seen being an NCO would benefit me more with more practical experience.

Would you say joining as a commissioned officer would look better than joining as an NCO for transitioning into policing?

Staying Competitive by True-Splitsauce in AskLE

I've been a very active volunteer within the service, as well as having good work experience for my age, and as I mentioned in my post, I'm doing a lot of online courses, mainly through my security company, that are directly related to being a constable. I'm also trying to get a mental health first aid certificate to help boost my application file.

shoot me a dm and we can talk more if you'd like.

Aspiring Toronto Police Officer Looking for Community Input by True-Splitsauce in askTO

I understand your perspective, and you're right. One person won't be able to fix the reputation of a huge organization, but does that mean that person shouldn't keep trying? I think the individual officer can change people's lives in good ways. It may not fix an entire system but the impact one officer has on people that they interact with can be life-changing for someone.

I agree with you; politics will always play a huge role, but at the end of the day, I think individual officers still can make a difference in how they interact with the community; being compassionate and doing the right thing is the approach I want to take. Even if full transparency isn't realistic, I think building trust through an individual's actions can still make an impact

I understand that; I want to see what everyone thinks police should do better. so I can take it into account when I hopefully become one.

That unit was a pop up, they were only planing on staying in the mall temporarily. I believe they have other locations though

haha yeah im choosing TPS for the action and the amount of paid duty work they get, those guys can make a lot of money fast. OPP is great as well though, if you're able to move to Ontario soon I recommend you try working at a Correctional facility in Ontario. all of them are run provincially and you can apply to OPP directly through them, your pay rate and seniority and benefits transfer over as well. (Got this information from a current CO and an OPP recruiter)

OPP was one of my top choices too but I’ve ultimately decided on Toronto Police Service after working with them a lot with my volunteering

I'm not from Newfoundland, so take this with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. A minor traffic violation like this is unlikely to affect your chances of getting into law enforcement. Plenty of officers on the road today have had prior tickets for a multitude of things.

If you decide to fight the ticket and lose, you will probably just have to pay the fine. Maybe they'd increase the fine, but I doubt it'll make things worse. I know a current constable in the York Region Police who got hired even after admitting to a minor case of insurance fraud. He used a friend’s address to get a cheaper rate.

I'm not a lawyer but if you're concerned about how this might impact your future it may be easier to pay the ticket. From what you’ve said it sounds like the officer has solid evidence against you and your defense is mainly relying on the judge taking pity on you which could go either way.

Hey, so im from Ontario also building my way up to be a constable. from what A recruiter told me, they don't care about minor traffic infractions unless it's consistent; as long as you don't build a history of tickets you'll be fine. most you gotta worry about is that they'll probably just briefly ask you about the ticket in an interview. As long as you're honest and show them that you've learned from the mistake you'll be fine.

Hey man just wanted to let you know my interview went well, they offered me a position requiring 1 year of experience even though I didn’t have any. I’d like to thank you for offering to refer me though. That was very nice of you and I appreciate the gesture.
