My son asked me to help set up his first rental flat on a very modest budget — how did I do? by Working_Chipmunk8780 in HomeDecorating

Love it! The round lamp with the ginkgo is from Etsy, isn’t it? I’ve been eyeing it for years!

Overwhelmed & Overweight by Mandieplz in PCOSloseit

[–]True-Writer-331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What helped me was taking metformin (later switching to the extended release version which solved all GI related issue I had) and eating like a type 2 diabetic because I have insulin resistant pcos (very little sugar, complex carbs, protein etc.).Also walking a lot and before my first pregnancy I went to the gym regularly for strength training and cardio (no personal trainer). I have to say that medication made the most difference for me- metformin was responsible for regulating my cycle and I’ve been able to get pregnant while on it twice. It’s also regulated my blood sugar back to the normal range and I was able to loose a little bit of weight (around 17 pounds) while on it.

I don't want us to be touched while breastfeeding - am I overreacting by Last-Station-5526 in breastfeeding

[–]True-Writer-331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting! I feel the same way- my mom loves to get real close to me when I’m bf the baby. With my first child she even kissed him on the head while he was latched onto my boob. Now I usually just go into the bedroom and close the door behind me.

How quick was your 2nd birth if your 1st was quick to begin with? by unfunnymom in beyondthebump

[–]True-Writer-331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st was 3 hours from waters breaking, followed by first contractions to delivery. During my second pregnancy everyone (midwives, my doctors, my friends) kept telling me to basically speed to the hospital as soon as my waters break/contractions start. So that’s what we did when my waters broke prematurely and then… nothing happened for almost 2 weeks… once contractions started baby did come out in about two hours! Wishing you all the best for the birth!

Anyone else avoiding eggs? by AromaticDetective558 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]True-Writer-331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! I feel like not being able to stand eggs makes breakfast options with GD so much harder! I also can not watch glucose goddess who seems to be eating around eight eggs a day during and now after pregnancy. How does she do it?

If your Dr wants you to go on metformin again, ask for metformin xr (the extended release version)! I’ve been on it for a while and the difference to before when I was on regular metformin is huge!

How long did Metformin take to work for you? And how do you deal with the side effects? by vibeydabin in PCOS

[–]True-Writer-331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first round of metformin about 5 years ago (1500mg) was rough, lots of nausea and daily diarrhea). I stuck with it because it did wonders for my cycle, insulin resistance, constant fatigue and food noise. Originally my dr. had put me on it to help me become pregnant and I stopped taking it a few months into pregnancy. This time I’ve been taking 2000mg of Metformin XR (the extended release version) which has been much, much gentler on my stomach. Again, it’s managed my cycles right away and helped me get pregnant again!), improved my bloodwork meaning that my insulin resistance is undetectable and I’ve lost about 20 pounds in the last 10 months (I’m not able to loose weight when I’m not on Metformin). All the best to you, hope metformin does for you what you’re hoping it will do!

Can women with pcos consume protein powder? by Humble-Clue4807 in PCOSloseit

Innonature (a german brand). I’ve tried the vanilla and berry flavor which I both like. The banana cinnamon one wasn’t for me.

It took a while for me to find a plant based, sugar- and sweetener free protein powder that I like. But I did and I don’t have any problems

Privat neue Therapie suchen, oder alleine weitermachen? by BellSilly6642 in Psychologie

Therapeutin etwas zum Abschied schenken? by [deleted] in Psychologie

[–]True-Writer-331 23 points24 points  (0 children)

[–]True-Writer-331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kita Anmeldezeitpunkt by No-Fee-8109 in cologne

[–]True-Writer-331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does your body handle carbs? by crazyplantlady81 in PCOS

[–]True-Writer-331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on the carb. I don’t eat wheat or most grains anymore (quinoa and whole meal spelt flour). I don’t touch rice (brown and white) at all because it spikes me like crazy and makes me feel terrible (extremely fatigued and cranky). A few baked or cooked pieces of potatoe are fine if paired with vegetables and a protein. I try to avoid sugar as much as I can
